okay so ive been driving a stick shift for about 3 months now and i still cant shift from first to second smoothly. ive been getting better over time, like sometimes i get it perfectly but thats rare. oh and also when i push my shifter into the 2nd gear socket it doesnt go in smoothly either. What exactly am i doing wrong? any help would be appreciated!

it is very hard to shift from 1st to 2nd smoothly. your best bet is to shift at low rpms. if you shift the car below 2000rpm the car wont jerk around when you let off the gas and shift. if you have only been driving a standard for 3 months, you are still a novice, you dont need to worry about shifting faster. you need to learn how to take your time, with practice comes perfection. the longer you drive a standard, the better you will become. dont force the car into gears, you will prematurely wear out the clutch, or worse, you can grind out the gears, and if you do that you will need to buy a whole new tranny.
