I'm helping out a buddy of mine on a project about street racing, and I'd love to get some info and some dialogue going. So I'd like to know, why do you guys/gals race? What do you get out of it? What motivates you to do this? And don't worry, nothing fishy here, just looking for some insight

we dont condone street racing here, but, most, if not all of us have partaken in street racing more then once in our lives.
back in the day, we would race to see who had the best car. we who actually put our time, money, and blood into building our cars cared more about the race then the rich kids who put their cars in a shop and paid for them to build it. winning in a street race was like a trophy in its self. it is a beautiful site when a little 1.8L honda crx blows the door off a chevy corvette 454 or a dodge viper. we raced for the respect of fellow tuners and for the adrenaline rush. but it all comes at a price. whether its a street racing ticket, a wreck, or a death of a friend, it becomes apparent that the rush isnt worth it. it took the death of a friend for us to realize how stupid we were. ever since then i have tried to keep the racing on the tracks and help others to do the same. every once in a while i will have a relapse, when some little punk in his daddies paid for car pulls up and revs up at me(if the roads are clear, and there is no one around except us) i will put them in their place. but then i will be upset with my self for street racing.
i hope this will help you out.
