First Car! Need a lot of help!

I'm looking for help to narrow down my choices for my first car. My cap is around 4k. Looking for something I can fix up but at the same time won't give me that many problems as far as maintenance goes. Good mileage would be a plus but not necessary. What cars would you recommend?

You could go with a 240sx. Not a maintenance nightmare and it has a huge aftermarket.

I also am looking for my first tuner I was wondering how the is300 holds as a first tuner my budget is 10k on the car but I was a reasonably priced after market selection as well thanks

there is alot of great cars out there like the 240sx,honda civic,geo metro is an ugly car but usually go for under a grand on craigslist and if you do an engine swap like a b20 vtec engine it will haul butt it depends if you want a fast car or a good looking car i hope this help
