Basiclly the title. Looking into buying me one of these cars (SC400), and want to know before I go order parts for the Soarer and them not fit the SC400. From what I've been able to gather, some parts are interchangeable, but I dunno.

Essentially yes, but the SC400 comes with a V8 while it's less powerful counterpart, the SC300 came with a non-turbo I6 2JZ.

Could you get the SC300 with the V8? Again, I've asked around, and some say yes, some say no.

You could swap one in. Personally I always thought an SC300 with a Soarer conversation and 2JZ-GTTE would be sick.

I agree. So I guess if I'm going to build one, I'd be better off tracking down a SC300. Thanks for the help.

Had an afterthought this morning when I saw an SC300 on the road. You should check out the drive train on the SC300 to see what is compatible. I would not be surprised if the 2JZ bolted right up, but for the V8 out of the SC400 you might need to modify the drive train slightly. You should check the drive train regardless of what swap you want to do because the last thing you want is to drop 3 grand on an engine and then find out that you have to wait to modify the drive train before you can install it.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but, if you had a common sense you would ask your self this question. Do I want to spend a *** load of money in custom work just to get a 2jz in there or do I want to make use of that quad cam v8 I have already in the engine bay?
Like it or not now your just dick riding the 2jz and dont get me wrong it is one of toyotas master pieces but if you would of done the research, like the 2jz the 1uz shares the same .5L per cyl ratio as the 2jz and like the 2jz it isnt just an aluminum block it is extremely over engineered to handle power the only difference is that you have 2 extra cylinders. but thats just my 2cents to each his own.
BTW this came from an 1992 sc400 owner and yes alot of parts do swap over...
