I'm looking for a first car, tuner car.
- Under $5000 (5k)
- I don't like Subaru or Mazda, don't get mad - just personal preference
- Thinking of some type of nissan (not altima or maxima though), honda civic Si/Vtech/ acura type s/r? open to other suggestions!

Thanks!

Check out the New Car Sticky on here.
Nissans are good. In the Nissan I would look for a 240SX or a 300ZX there RWD and have a lot of aftermarket parts and a lot of performance capabilities. Depending on where you live they can also be kind of rare mostly the 300ZX. Honda Civics and Acuras Integras can be a great first car. You can do a lot with them. Their bad side other than being really too common is their FWD. Mitsubishi Eclispe also fits in your budget. On the eclipse a late 90's GST or GSX would be awesome but a GST or GSX might be pushing you budget a little bit depending on it's condition. Toyota MR2 are pretty cool and kind of uncommon too. You can also look for a older Toyota Supra. Just look at the cars in your area and test drive them and  figure out what you want to do with the car in the long run then make your decision. I hope this helps and good luck. Post back here if you have further questions.

5K for a first car huh? There are a few things to consider when buying a car, ANY car for that matter, it's important to ask what you'll need or want from? Are you buying it so it'd be your daily driver? If so then it's going to need to be reliable not to mention good on gas. Are you going to be taking it to the track (either to drag or drift) every now & then? You said you wanted a Tuner car? Another thing to consider is when your wanting to tune your car is how hard is it to find parts for your car/engine? Are there aftermarket parts for your car? Do you intend to be driving 4 or more people around? If so you'll need a car with space maybe a car with a back seat unless its just you. After you've decided all those kinda stuff it's also important to consider the financial side of owning & taking care of a car. Like maintenance cost, insurance, smog testing (depending on where you live). I could go on but just consider those things especially the insurance because depending on your age some car's insurance wil be higher than others. An example is the cost of insurance for a liability only for my '94 Dodge Neon was $94 dollars a month. Some insurance company will mark some Honda's as a sport cars when they're not. Hope this helped out even if it was a little.
