I have read and researched all of the unique all-wheel drive systems, and Subaru's systematic all-wheel drive system is superior to all the other unique all-wheel systems out there, but 4-wheel drive has the high and low options.
Which is better?

Ford Escape 2010 – computer controlled. variable electromagnetic multi-plate clutch pack-based center differential.
Honda CRV 2010 – front-wheel drive for main part, and then when the front wheels lose traction, it transfers 20% of torque to rear wheels… once traction has been regained, it returns to front wheel drive.
Nissan Rogue 2010 – computer controlled. When front wheels slip, it transfers 50% of power to the rear wheels.
Toyota Rav4 2010 – when front wheels slips, it transfer 45% of power to rear wheels.
Subaru Forester 2010 – always in all-wheels drive 50/50

The high and low options are designed to regulate torque as a form of traction control or hauling control. It is mostly for larger vehicles that haul loads. The 4WD low and 4WD high options are managed by a switch on the console, not by the computer. Most of the ones you listed are just temporary fixes for lack of traction.
On another note, I don't know if you've looked around this site, but we don't deal with these kind of issues. Personally I wouldn't even drive any of the cars you listed. This is a better question for a service rep at a dealership.
