just constructive criticism: according to justin VR4 the 3000gt has a timing belt rather than a timing chain. its only a minor difference though. and on the costly part I interpreted what he said as more expensive parts i.e. turbos, intercoolers, etc. as far as basic maintenance i dont see any reason for it to be more expensive than any other similar car.

The engine bay for the 3kgt is miserable, making replacing some items more expensive than most cars. It was also crammed with performance stuff, so even replacing stock-for-stock items will be expensive. For example, the stock brake calipers are 4-piston, and run as much as good aftermarket calipers. The Wheel hubs on this car cost $180 each (compared to my brother's jeep at $25). Parts for the 3kgt are just plain expensive.
Also, I didn't realize the new WRX had that much HP (assumed only the STi had that power)

yeah sounds like a fun ride but not fun to work on. I still want one but i think i'll pass on it for now since i dont have unlimited money or unlimited time to work on the beast.
Pandasr20 said the tibirons arent that fast, but whats that in terms of? a 10sec car? and is there much mods for them cause i was looking into a 03 jetta with the 1.8 turbo but ya cant even get headers for um (atleast wat i seen)
so i guess all said and done i'm just looking for a car that has a relative amount of mods available (other than honda) and so far gt3000, vr6, and wrx are the only ones i've really looked into
are acuras anygood or are ya spending more money then wat they are worth?

Acuras are good, but I'm only familiar with them as a daily driver (RSX) lol
The tiburon is slow for a lot of cars. Consider the fact that my VR4 is a fast car, but only a high-13 second car as stock. Any 10-sec car is really really fast (for a street car). Of-course, the 1/4 mile isn't everything. My VR4 has incredible top-end acceleration, which is plain and simple fun

OK yur sayin you want a car, but not a Honda, and then ask about Acuras. The only problem with that is that Acura is Honda. Honda owns Acura and Acuras run Honda engines. I'm not givin you crap or anything, just letting you know. If you watch when yur on the freeway or in a grocery store parking lot or something, a lot of modded Acuras have their badges switched out for Honda badges for that reason. Also, most Acuras are front wheel drive which I prefer to avoid because I have a semi modded Honda as a daily driver and it's a fun enough car, but I would prefer RWD for any car intended for moding.

yeah i didnt no acura's were hondas (my bad). i asked acuras cause there is alot less around here.
Yeah ik ten sec car is fast for a street car lol i was just using an example, i just needed to no what is considered slow cause slow to a vr4 is a lil different then slow compared to a neon. cause if it cant beat a stock honda or vw or whatever then i'd rather avoid it. I dont need a super car but i'd like to start off on the right foot
Yeah RWD would be real awesome, the trouble is finding those cars that are manual and rwd.

Yamaha I got a couple suggestions for you. If this is your first car you are going to be tuning (muscle is different from imports) then you might want to steer clear of some of the harder cars to tune. The VR4, granted is a great car, but is not the easiest entry car to tune.
As far as Honda's go, they are so commonly tuned because A) They are so damn easy to tune and B) The endless amount of parts available for Honda's has driven the price down on tuner parts, resulting in one of the cheaper cars to tune. So I understand your dislike to Honda's because, I would agree, they are EVERYWHERE. And its much harder to spot a Gen IX Evo MR than it is to spot a Civic with a motor swap. However, don't rule Honda's completely out of your equation.
And lastly, as one of the other poster's replied, a Genesis Coupe would be a great choice (even if it is a new car and sitting at a little over $27,000). The Coupe comes with the Theta 2.0L I4 turbo engine that is almost an exact replica of the 4B11 engine (bolt patterns are basically the only difference and no one cares about Dodge's engine so im not mentioning them) which is used in the Evo X. The 4B11 Engine is already getting major attention from the tuner world and the Theta engine will not be far behind. Also, the Coupe comes with some decent upgrades that you wouldn't have to worry about getting, like a Brembo braking system, an LSD (that doesn't suck) great handling and weight distribution....oh and did I mention its RWD check it out. It may just be the car you are looking for. And it wouldn't be another Honda or WRX.

yeah probabaly not getting a vr4 (to hard to find, too expensive)and wow if i had the money that coupe would be pretty sweet. but i aint that rich
yeah honda would be a good step but i rather not resort to them (dont hate me) but i'd rather not be like everyone else plus i just like other cars better.
a guy from work was telling me bout his del sol and how awesome it was but idk how well a go-cart handles in the snow
Thanks for the help

a tiburon is a 14.6 sec car. same as my old 2nd gen n/a rx-7. not slow, but just not fast.
i would stick with the wrx, or maybe a 350z, or 3rd gen rx-7.
my friend has a vr4 with 800+hp and still only runs 11 sec in the 1/4. if my rx-7 had 800hp i would be running mid to low 9's
