SO I picked up a 1997 Eagle Talon about a month ago, and since I had never even heard of them before I looked up its specs as per wiki. I was rather dismayed to find that my engine was the 420a as opposed to the more powerful 4G36. I plan to replace the engine with one I found in a san antonio yard that runs good and has less than half the miles as the one currently in my car. My question is where to go from there. I have never made a tuner before and dont really know alot about cars, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I was curious if anyone with a talon uses http://www.eagletalonbodykits.com/ for some parts. I was looking into a few things there and was wondering if BLOCKED SCRIPT
BLOCKED SCRIPT and the 2wd front ones as well im just not gonna link em
BLOCKED SCRIPT
were worth the money. Hope this forum is less ridiculing towards people who are brand new into this thing.
Edit: okay ill just copy paste the names since they blocked the links : the shocks im gonna get asap because car needs new ones, but is the Supercharger Turbonator Stage 2 and Stage 3 Surge O2 Chip Combo worth the money on the site?
Edit 2: I should mention this car is FWD and automatic.

why replace the motor, get to know your car and rebuild the engine and give it new life. Before you start have a performance shop clean it up and check it. Buy a Chilton or Haynes repair manual get some strong tools and then start putting it back together. New rods, pistons and rings, water pump, oil pump, bearings, cooler flowing thermostat, timing belt, tune up, new fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, fresh oil, and clean the injectors. Then you'll know your car enough to know what you want to do to it, such as larger pistons, freeing up the flow of air coming in through the intake system and going out through the exhaust system, pumping more fuel into the engine, upgrading your ignition to ignite that fuel making more power, control settings by tires and rims, don't get TOO BIG of rims maybe 18s but i prefer 17s, suspension set ups with lowering springs shocks sway bars and brake systems. There's a number of things you can do to this car. You can make it for show or you can make it for go, you can do both but its easy to fall into a stereo type, ricers and tuners, ricers want all show than more go but say it has loads of go, tuners want go before they worry about the show. If your looking to turbo the car with type of charger you'll need at least a 3500 to 4000 dollar engine build. your also gonna need to invest in an intercooler, transmission cooler, turbo oil lines and coolant lines, a remap of the ECU system, blow off valve, turbo timer, boost controller. In my opinion keep it a naturally aspirated car, turboing a 420A has been done, if u want to start of with a GST style settings theres a kit out there for 3500 and it has a 16G tubo with it. the turbo, intercooler and piping, oil feed and return lines, water feed and return lines, you'll just need to have your ECU reset to the TSI, or the GST whichever, both the same. you car can run 5psi on stock engine internals, any more then that your gonna swap parts out so you dont hurt the engine. any questions on things just drop me a line.

If you weren't so new to this stuff, I would tell you not to waste your time with the 420A. It can be modded, but not as easily as the Mitsu motor. 4G63s have a reputation of gaining power for cheap. For example, my roommate has a completely stock 98 GSX. [that's the highest trim with the Turbo motor and AWD. Same as a Talon TSi AWD] My other good friend has a 95 GSX. HE has a front mount intercooler kit, Blow off valve, full exhaust, replaced OEM clutch, and a chromolly flywheel. He runs a 14.6 1/4 mile. My roomate's best run is a 15.7 So, theoretically speaking, for under $800 he shaved over a second off his 1/4 time.
But back to business, If I were you, I'd flip that thing and sell it. Buy a DSM with a 4G63 and go from there.
I use punishment-racing.com and maperformance.com for all my parts, but then again, I have the Mitsu motor..
