Hi my name is Matt and im from Southern California.
Im 18 years old and ive always wanted to get into cars. Im saving up for my first car and its most likely going to be a used one. Can anyone tell me a good starter car thats cost effective and will teach me a lot. Also is there a site or forum or anything that will teach me the basics of cars and later on more advance things? Thanks everyone for reading.

Some cars im looking into but dont know if i can afford them are.

nissan 240sx

if anyone knows somone selling a good reliable starter car can you also let me know? without a car im in danger of loosing my job quick.

Check out the 5th generation hond prelude...its nice and has a reasonable price

i suggest you go for a civic or the prelude. get a cheaper one, there both safe and get good mpg without being too powerful so you'll also save money on insurance.

Ya I would go for the Civic or Integra for reliability and aftermarket parts availability.  There's tons of parts for these cars and lots of potential once you start dumping more time and money into upgrading it.  Obviously a Honda or Acura will get good gas mileage and be reliable.  Any 240sx will cost you an arm and a leg for what you're gonna get...the least expensive one you find will need work I promise.
