Need Car Now!

I don't have time to save much up for a car, I need one now or I risk loosing my job. Since after I buy the car I'll be able to save, I'm wondering what kind of car is going to be cheaper for parts, cheaper to tune and have good resale value. Ideally I'd like to fix it up, make little cheap upgrades, if I like it I'll keep it and pay out more cash, If I don't, hopefully I can sell it for more than what I put into it. Here are some possibilities. Another possibility would be to use the engine from my cheaper car, provided it was in good shape, to put in a new car. So also, which cars could I swap engines and what kind of difference in performance can I expect.
88-96 Honda Prelude 92-95 Honda Civic Si 89-01 Acura Integra (Hatch preferably) Any of the Nissan hundred models, ie, 180sx, 240sx, (Hatch preferably) 92-97 Mazda MX-6 Mazda RX-7
Any other suggestions you might have.

Forget about the rx-7. If you want a cheap car with a lot of parts for it get a 88-95 Honda civic hatchback/coupe. You can swap the engine for a B18a/b engine found in integras. It will have 140 hp rather than the stock civic engine with only 100 or a little less.
