About two month ago, I was hit pretty hard on front of my eclipse. I was sitting at a light waiting for it to go green. The light than turned green, I started to move, and some dumb@$$ driver in his SUV ran a red light and slammed in to my left side. After being out for about 20 min, i woke up and saw a half crushed car. The eclipse I put almost my whole life into was gone.....All the money taken away by some idiot in an SUV.
Any, my point is that now that I`m up and driving again, I am once again looking for an older eclipse. Preferably a 2G 1996-1999. I`ve found a few don`t get me wrong, but I am just unsure of thing. Ive been finding alot with over 100000 on the engines. And I know as a fact the the engines they use, the Chrysler engine isnt the best. My question is, should see of I can find one with less on it? Or should I go for one with very low 100000`s? I do however plan on doing a JDM swap in the future. I just need some input on if the engine would be able to last for about a year or two?

Very sad to see the story, I dislike most SUV drivers on the road
4g63t? I was driving my 1990 tsi awd with 250,000 miles on it, the only problem was it burned oil (as expected). I can only use this experience to assume that 100,000 miles should be fine. My 6g72tt is running fine on 160,000 miles (no burning oil, no oil pressure issues, etc.)
Either way, it's a good idea to check as much as you can in person.

The burning oil thing on the 4g63t doesn't really bother me. I`m just wanting to make sure that the 4g63t can still live over 100,000.

Really though, the mileage on the engine doesn't really matter. It all depends on how the previous owner(s) treated it before hand. If the engine's been treated well, then you'll be fine. Besides, you can always rebuild the engine, like you'll most likely do anyways. I think I had like something like 102,000 miles on my '99 GS before I sold it and had no major engine problems, but I was only the second owner.
Also its kind of hard to do a true JDM themed Eclipse because they never offered them in Japan.

Ok so, I looked at a 1996 RS. It has 110400 Miles and its 4000. Do you think its worth getting? The engine sound very clean. The body was in is awesome condition, and everything inside and out worked.

Seems pricey for an RS, but it may be a good buy if it's in good condition. Personally, I'd be looking for a turbo version (on the other hand, you have to be more cautious when finding an old turbo DSM, many of them were used and abused)

Steer clear of the RS and GS. Only look for GSTs, or more preferably GSXs. I sold my '99 GS OZ rally edition with about 102k miles for 5500 with mods. Body had some minor dents, but engine was well taken care of.

Trust me, Ive looked for GST`s and GSX`s, but there arn`t any that are close to where I live in jersey. The only one I found a while back was all the way in Maine. But trust me, I would love to find a GSX that wasn't abused. But I'm stuck with either an RS or a GS. Like I said earlier here, I plan on doing a JDM swap in the next year or so.
