your accord sounds incredibly slow and makes a very poor tuning platform. Even if you put $5000 or so under the hood of that, it Would Probably still be a full 3 seconds slower down the quartermile than a stock version of my car.

any of the cars you or the repliers mentioned are fine EXCEPT for a mustang. DO NOT get a mustang unless you're willing to drop a whole bunch of money into the suspension. a lot of pro formula D drivers use '05 and up mustangs but they also have suspension set ups worth about 15K. Without a huge chunk of change a mustang simply wont grip the road. thats been my experience driving a friends mustang, what owners have told me, and what i have read in other forums. The money you would put into suspension could go into a much cheaper import that would handle as good and have the same power not to mention have a much wider variety of parts.

Brother, even though I'm new here and new to this tuning scene. I gotta say if you wanna buy a car Test drive 'em first and see which one you prefer, at the end of the day its you car so, do whatever suits you. If I were you I would go out looking for a 180SX,AE86,Sileighty,Silvia S13 or a S14 all of them are nice easily tune able cars. Don't you go for a FF because they only can be tuned up to a certain level.

and what level do you need that the fwd chassis cant handle on the street? i doubt very few even need to worry about that barrier. bsides that 240s, rx7s, supras, v8s,etc are very much more apt to be a super car than a fwd ride but this is a debate over a daily driver not a track monster.

You should go with a Honda Civic EX or SI. Just get like a 95 Civic coupe or hatch for about $2,500 and swap in a B16 or B18 and turbocharge that and if you also upgrade the internals you could easily reach 300 - 400hp.

Yea, which is exactly why you would want to steer away from a civic, because to make more than 200-250whp, you have to do a $5000 rebuild, ontop of a $5000 motor swap, and a $3500 turbokit+hondata, just to make 300-400whp.
Whereas, my stock 2.0 turbo engine has made 440whp on stock internals, Im pushing 300whp with just minor bolt ons done to it, stock ecu, stock internals, stock fuel system.

I hear that Dodge Neons are good cars to get into the tuner scene with, a lot better than building a Honda Civic. The first car I put together was a worn out looking 1972 Chevrolet El Camino...I can tell you without a doubt that a Chevy 350 is one of the most durable and easily upgradeable engines of all time. V8 cars are great...In a straight line. The 350 pushed the heavy beast down the quarter mile in just under 13 seconds. It couldn't handle worth anything however. A Mustang is a fun car. I owned a 1998 GT, but they are unreliable and are only really good for going down a straightaway. I own a 1990 Eclipse GS-T now, my friend's old car...Believe me, even though it is FWD, it's a blast and it's fast. I've only seen it run however, haven't driven it yet, need to fix the ball joint. But for 500, it seems a good investment for me. Avoid Civics. Even one if you intend to swap in a B16, B18 or H22...It'll still cost you upwards of 10g's to make it a "race" car...You can however pick up a Civic with a swap already done and with a plethora of mods for under 10, but where's the fun in buying someone else's project car. Part of working on cars is doing it yourself. Get a car that suits your driving style and personality.

You should punch whoever told you Neons are good Tuner cars in the face.

He was a Dodge devotee...Dodge could do wrong in his eyes. He had a 96 Neon and it was pretty clean. He had a lot invested in it however. I'll admit that I don't know much about Tuner cars though.

Another car you might like is a 240sx S14 or S15 and do a RB25 swap because its alot more reliable than the SR20, with more horsepower the RB25 is much more reliable and its a inline 6 turboed skyline motor. Why i would get the RB25 rather than the RB26 is that your just spending another grand for just another turbo and theres not a huge difference in power. There are a whole tone of things you could do to the car for costomizing it and there is alot of add on parts for hat engine.

Some of you guys have no clue wat ur talkin about A stock Eclipse GST is better then most of the tuners you guys r naming it doesnt have 2 b a GSX plus if ur lookin 4 cheap y not even grab a GS and throw ur own turbo in when you get the $ cause the stock turbo on the GST and The GSX r small anyway and ull prob end up replacing it anyway but the Eclipse is 1 of the best on the list. Also if u want V6 or V8 power y not get a camaro SS or Z28 depending on the yr. Plently of power stock and parts are domestic and pretty cheap. Not 2 mention most r bolt on. But seriously some of u need 2 learn a little more bout cars.

You sound like you know nothing about eclipses. The weak 420a motor in Eclipse GS and RS's is no comparison to the strong 4g63 motor in the Eclipse GSX/GST.
Not to mention they have inferior FWD setups, if your trying to be fast with an Eclipse the only one to go with would be the eclipse gsx. And yes your right the t25 is garbage, but for the cost of a Hahn racing kit for a 420a, you could slap on a .50trim and some 550cc or larger injectors and dsmlink to a GSX eclipse and completely blow the 420a's doors off.
The difference between the Eclipse gs/rs and the eclipse gsx is one was setup for racing from the factory, and the other was setup for fuel economy from the factory.

Here is my list of cheap GREAT tuners.
Toyota: 80's Corolla GTS/SR5, MR2 (perferably the supercharged one), Supra Nissan: 240sx, 200sx, 1990-1994 Sentra SER, Honda: NONE...lol fine the Prelude and civic hachback are good ONLY if they are SI Mazda 90's Miata, RX7 any year, 90's MX6 Mich'es: AWD ecplips and (if you got some more money) EVOS. try and see how much it would be to import an old evo like a series 3-6
What did I do?......I bought a 92 Toyota MR2...put a wide body kit on it (custom) and put a 88 Supra engine...Think about it Light car, Mid engine rear wheel drive, SUPRA 6 CILINDER....yeah its fast and handles better than a Lambo...plus it cost about 6K for the car and engine swap and 3K for the custom wide body kit(you need this kit cause the engine is large(er) and sticks out(almost) of the stock side of the MR2)...oh and it is Turbo.

dont buy a 2g eclipse gs or rs. the 420a is a piece of *** motor. if you buy a mitsu it needs to have a 4g block, i.e. 4g63, 4g64.
