I was wondering if anyone could tell me the diffrence, if any between the 90-94 and the 95-98 4g63t. I would also like to know if JDM 4g63t are better then DSM.

I think the 2Gs had about 10 more HP, right? Was there a difference in the engines that made the extra HP?

Since you're asking about 90-94 and 95-98(99) 4G63T, I'm going to assume you're asking about Eclipses. If I recall, the 4G63T in the earlier models used a 6 bolt connection to the flywheel from the crankshaft, while the newer models used a 7 bolt connection. There's also a difference in compression ratios (pistons) and turbos.

So you understand my references, you need to know that there are actually 4 different "generations" of the 4G63T Eclipse.

1GA - 1990 to 1992
1GB - 1992 to 1994
2GA - 1995 to 1996
2GB - 1997 to 1999

First gen 4G63Ts, in my opinion are more badass than the 2Gs.  Here's the basic spec comparisons.

Horsepower:
1G - 195
2G - 210

Compression Ratio:
1G - 7.8:1
2G - 8.5:1

Turbo:
1G - Mitsubishi TDO4H 13G[auto] and Mitsubishi TDO5H 14B[manual]
2G - Garrett T25
To make things easy, just trust me when I say the 14B is a bigger turbo and capable of more boost.

Throttle body:
1G - 60mm
2G - 52mm

Also, I recently discovered that the 1G intake ports and runners of the intake manifold are larger than the 2G. Most would say that this offers better performance potential than the 2G head due to its increased flow capacity in stock form. However, the 2G head can be ported to increase the size of its intake ports similar to that of the 1G. Furthermore, the smaller ports provide greater velocity which aids in cylinder filling, and thus, as is the case with any head porting, port size is a compromise between air flow and air velocity.  The 1Gs also have larger crankshaft bearing journals to allow better lubrication.

The 90 to 92 1Gs [aka 1GA] had a 6 bolt motor.  Enthusiasts claim that modified 6 bolts are less prone to crankwalk than modified 7 bolts.  Facts have been shown to justify this so called rumor into the truth.  92 to 94 1Gs [aka 1GB] have a 7 bolt crank.  There is no difference between the 6 and 7 bolt 1G motors other than the flywheel and crankshaft, naturally.

Higher compression.  The compression was increased and a smaller turbo was added for the 2nd Gen to decrease turbo lag, which was unfavorable to the US market.

May I add the 4g63t's from 95-98 (7 bolts engines) suffer crank walk more than the 1st Gen 4g63t's.
