To me the import scene is all about customization/modification. It's about taking a car and making it your own and extracting every bit of HP you can out of it.

Unfortunately my area's idea of Import Scene involves all show and no go

My part of CT is mostly into Muscle, not so much on well-tuned imports (with the great exception of the Subaru Club in CT)

I think the Import scene overall has some bad rep thanks to the kids who partake in the all show no go group, fueled by the F&F franchise. Always brings a smile to my face to see a clean looking import on the road. Makes me sad when a dropped CRX revs his fart can at me, it's just not impressive.

The import scene is kinda wack nnow a days. In my opinion seems like all anyone cares about is how much bling and bodykits.

I for one like the challenge of taking a sleeper ( a 93 tercel) and making it fast.
Thats the scene I'm into show is ok but it gets old.
I would say mild to minimum body mods and more on the engine side.
We have car shows every sat in phoenix and all you see is bling.
There are some that actually mod but for the most part its all bling.
I still see cars with haha underglow lights I though that died a long time ago?
Anyways thats what I think.

to me its about hanging out with your friends. working on your cars in the drive way or back yard. building something your proud of. meeting new people who have the same feeling for cars as your self.

Import scene to me is all about customization. I'm more all about go but I love bodykits, decals and underglow alot. You may be thinking oh not another riced out civic. But I aim high. I don't just put an exhaust system on a car a lame powder coat and air intake and say I'm finished. That's lame. For the real imports out there its about doing engine transplants ,stand alone fuel managments and GT 47's or T-66's. I don't mean one. I mean a turbo for each cylinder. My city aims big. I'm from birmingham. We're known for having some of the baddest tuners in the top ten.

I will talk about the ricer term in another thread but all I can say is that it is misused and not used approppriately. Ricers are all show no go. But for some reason some muscle heads and I'm not saying all refer to all imports as ricer.

The import scene is very much alive. You just live in the wrong spots or go to the wrong areas. I can almost promise you every city has a imports and car enthusiast driving them. You just don't see them. But the best part I love about the import scene is having parties at my friend's mechanic shop and everyone pulls in with their car and I'm working on my 240sx and all I hear is blow off valves  and fire breathing exhausts. But that's my two cents.

huh, wouldn't guess alabama to have an import community. lol i live in a secluded,10,000 people city near seattle with most people making 1ook plus, except for the 10% im in. the closest my friends have gotten to tuning is watching tokyo drift. i think it just shows how much where you live changes what tuner means to you.
