How to start? I'm 19 years old, I've been driving my 1999 Toyota Solara for 3 years now, bought it with 170k miles on it and I've driven it well past 200k. I have a full scholarship to the college of my choice, so I have a bit of graduation money to buy a tuner with. I want something that I can tune well enough to beat muscle cars, but I need something that's either got a 6 Cylinder block or a 4 Cylinder block...
I want something that can outrun muscle cars on the strip (after modification of course) and something with tons of aftermarket parts.. I just don't know what I should get. I've got around $10,000 to spend as of now on the car itself..
Something I don't want is a Honda Civic.

It's gonna take a good amount of money to run with the Muscle (assuming we're talkin' old school 11 second Mopars and such)
I'm not familiar with dragging a 240sx, but I know they are good tuning platforms. The MR2, Miata and s2000 are good track cars, may not be reasonable to turn them into drag cars.
You can get a 1G DSM AWD to run with the big blocks, but it'll cost a lot of money. On the bright side, the initial cost should be under $5k (depending on area and condition).
Obviously the Supra is a great platform, but unreasonably priced. Either way, if you're gonna need a RWD or light weight AWD. Most tuners make for better track cars than drag cars, considering the money it takes. I know I'm forgetting better options, some one will stop by to fill you in.

If you want to get some better 1/4 miles start looking at gears(DRIVETRAIN). Besides man you got to have a decent camshaft, and ball bearing turbo (MUST HAVE FULL KIT), and exhaust work done. I not sure how much horses you get but I know you can BOOST BIG POWER by at least a CAMSHAFT. Besides everyone know about camtiming-Maybe this could help.
A Ball-Bearing Turbo Exhaust Work CamShaft A performance tune chip or management system drivetrain gears
-It might help you beat the muscles-maybe if lucky by horses?NOT LIKELY U MAKE IT-but trust me a camshaft will help the most by cheap factors. More lift.More POWER.
