I've finally dumped the SUV and purchased a 1991 Toyota Celica GT with the 1.6 liter engine.  It's the best I could find in the area.  Body and engine are in excellent condition.  Front struts will be replaced Monday or Tuesday.

I've been googling my head off and can't really find much information on performance mods to this car.  I don't want to go all out but I do want a little more power.  Can anyone give me some suggestions on where to start?

High output coils? new plugs, new plug wires?  Bigger air intake?  Cat back exhaust?
I do not want a racing exhaust to wake up the neighbors at 2am.  Something better, but quiet.  Not sure if the Apexi Noir will fit my car yet.

The body is tight and may add a few things later, but right now I'm looking for suggestions on adding a little power to the 1.6  liter engine.

Will no-one even attempt a suggestion?  This is ridiculous.

Looks like you picked up a 1991 Toyota Celica ST not a Celica GT. Only the ST model got the 1.6L, while the GTs and GT-Ss came with a 2.2L engine. Most known tuner companies don't even make parts for  early model Celicas other than the All-Trac so you're going to have to make custom parts to fit. Just FYI 1.6L makes only 103hp and 2.2L makes 130.

I'm going to play a bit with this one, make it look really nice with a low rpm turbo kit from Garrett, then use it as a daily driver.  I found a few 240's that I like.  There are gobs and gobs of parts for 240's.
