Over the next couple of months im going to try and get a decent car to become a hobby im not into drifting or anything just going fast im not concerned with dvd players and all that nonsense but anyway its not that big in my area at all (rochester NY) so I was just wondering if there are any mid 90s cars that I should keep an eye out for to get a steal.

nissan 240sx would be your best bet. they are fairly cheap and easy to mod.

1st and 2nd gen eclipses, honda crx or delsol or civics. it all matters on your goal for the car.

Actually the SRT4 is a very good car, but aren't they more expensive to purchase and maintain than say a Civic or even a GSX?

true, the first gen neon was a terrible and unreliable car. The neon got a lot better around the time they introduced the SRT4. Personally, I wouldn't do anything with a stock Neon, but the 2nd gen isn't bad.
