This is my dilemma: I own this 1992 Toyota Camry Sedan with a four cylinder engine. Im 21 and Ive had the car since like 15...I tried the 18 inch chrome with candy paint scheme..but now I want to change it into a tuner. I want to start off modest first. So where is the best place to start? Give me some tips on where I should start and the first few upgrades I should make. It would be greatly appreciated~

Dont buy a new car. I have a 1992 toyota camry XLE 3L v6 its a great first time tuner car. they have 185 HP STOCK now the first thing you wanna start with is suspension. Then get a cold air intake. I reccomend an AEM if your lookin for something cheaper in the mean while. Go to kragens and you can get a specter air intake for $25 after that work on exhaust. Dont be a ricer and waste money on a fart can. Get something nice within the price range of 200 to 400 anything more is not worth it for a first time tuner. Ive done all that to my camry and im at about 230 HP its not bad but it could be better. Well good luck with your camry have fun

well since you're going to make it into a tuner, first don't call it a tuner. It gives it expectations and you might try to push the car to meet them. I mean you won't get no gt-r or be on the cover of any magazine, but It can be something that you can be proud of and have a smile on you face while you push it to its limits with confidence. Oh and that's a nice paint job, it suits the car. I would've just painted the bottom partition on the front and rear bumper black to match the side skirts but that's just me. Now the type of modification that fit the car should lean that way as well... be fun to drive.
AEM makes CAI's but they are for the V6 model. but weapon R makes some for the 4 cyl. I'd get the secret weapon short ram type. For headers Bosal makes a ceramic header and stainless steel cat back setup, but it's kinda pricey at 1k for both. Now since your car is more than a decade old your catalytic converter must be made of rust, so I'd replace it with a Magnaflow High flow unit.
For the suspension part of things H&R makes a 1.25 in. sport springs that will give you some cornering force and since they are progressive they should stop you from bottoming out. For rims: O.Z. and Enkei provide some cheap light and strong wheel's and as for tires any UHP or summer tire will do the job.
The trick is to take your time find reliable, quality parts for your car and get them one by one at a time when your budget allows. you've had your car since you were 15 right? Then don't cheap out and hurry to make the part.
