I'd definitely go with the rx7 make it an FD. If you go on rx7club.com I'm sure you can find a very clean FD for 10-15k. out of the others a 240sx is the only other I'd consider but now-a-days 240's are like civics lol but if you do get one I'd get a fastback they look the best :-D

You clearly know nothing of Talons. Eagle Talons are basically Mitsubishi Eclipses with a Chrysler badge and body. Mitsubishi and Chrysler formed a joint company in the 90s called Diamond Star Motors [DSM]. The Talon was one of the results from this merge. The ESi models came with the 420A from Chrysler and are indeed junk. But the TSi models came with the 4G63T from Mitsubishi. The same motor in the late to mid 90s Eclipse GST and GSX.
To the starter of this topic: If you have 10 to 15K to spend, you are a lucky man. I see you are considering a Talon TSi AWD. If I were to give you my opinion, get one of those. Look for a 98 or so Talon TSi or Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. Like I stated above, they are the same thing. I would get you will find one for around 5 to 8 thousand depending on mods and condition. Use the rest of the money you have to rebuild the engine. ALL gaskets, rod and main bearings, water pump, timing belt, etc. Then spend money on the main power areas. Turbo, cams, exhaust, etc. If you would like some more info on specific parts and whatnot to buy for the 4G63T let me know.. I myself am getting a TSi and would be happy to discuss more with you.

The only problem with an RX-7 is the rotary motor. Hard to work on and parts must be specific and are expensive. But if you like it enough and can work on it and afford the parts, by all means...

Also, one of my friends who lives across from me in the dorm owns an SRT-4 with a Borla exhaust. He just finished installing a Mopar Stage 3 turbo kit. [which costs around 3 grand, mind you] Huge front mount intercooler, high flow fuel rail with 660 injectors, and a MASSIVE turbo. 22 pounds of boost... Runs mid to low 12s depending on if he hooks up... It's 'hella fast' as he would put it.

May i also suggest a Dodge stealth/mitsu 3000 GT. Yes i realize dodge is a domestic car company but as one of the previous posters explained about the talon/eclipse relationship the same thing happen with the dodge stealth and mitsu 3000 GT....basicly the same car just diffrent badges....The talon/eclipses and 3000GT/stealths are both AWD cars that you can get for under 10k and have massive potential.

good luck finding a vr4 or r/t turbo for cheaper than 10 with a decent amount of miles on it. i own a shitty gs and love it dearly but im really looking into the 3kgt vr4 they are not cheap here unless u dont mind driving a droven down 150k mile car.

You can find VR4s in good shape for under $10k, but they are definitely rare. Mine was $9k with 150k miles on it. Fortunately for me, it was kept in very good driving condition and has run fine the last 3 years.
