im somewhat new to the import scene. handleing is more important to me then over all power, but i love power just as much. i know the celica has better handleing, but i am wondering if it has more handleing then it is worth. i know the eclipse has ok handleing and more power, but it doesnt have the right style i want, whats your opinion? should i go with more power less style, or more style and handleing and less power? and if there is a way to make the celica better in power without sacraficing hanndleing what is it?

Depends on which model of celica and eclipse we are talking about. We need model years, since there are so many variations of the eclipse and celica, its impossible to tell you about one model.
If I were going to buy one or the other, Id pick either a 90-99 Eclipse GSX or a 87-93 Celica alltrac.

if your lookin for a semi newer model, 2000-2005, id take the eclipse hands down. the eclipse is faster and the eclipse handles way better. unless you buy the gts model. but for that price, you can pick up a eclipse gt. a gs eclipse goes for 4-9gs, and the celica gt goes for about 6-12gs.

But its ALOT easier to go fast in either the eclipse GSX or Celica Alltrac because those are Turbo AWD car's, than it is a FWD NA 2000 Eclipse GS/GT

id stick with the either the 96-99 eclipse or the 00-05 eclipse since the aftermarket for either is huge. I may be off by a year or two but i think u get the point im trying to make.
the celica also has a hard ride some say.

the 3000gt vr4 will be your biggest pride and joy in the end. Upgrade options are wide for the cars and theres always something a little more that you can do with it. Currently there are some out there that run 8's in the 1/4 and quite a large handful of 10 second Daily drivers.
Also the sleek styling cant be beat by a eclipse or celica and with things like a 99 front end conversion etc the cars look amazing.

Well actually my model of mr2 has won numerous JGTC's and the Celica alltrac has won several WRC's. I dont think K20 civics have won any bigname races btw.
If a peice of crap you mean a car thats faster than your civic in every single way possible, than yes I would have to agree with you.

Actually Toyota has one of the highest build qualitys of any manufacturer. You sure your not getting that confused with your mitsubishi? I still see 20 year old Toyotas still on the road more often than I see anything else.

i see more pre 95 mitsubishis, nissans, and hondas then any toyota. there are more broken down pos toyotas in the junkyards then any other foriegn car. i see old hondas, nissans, and mitsubishis with over 250000 miles on stock motor and tranny. my uncle has a 95 nissan pickup with almost 700000 miles on the origanal motor and tranny and he has only replaced the clutch twice. you cant say that about any pos toyota.

Yea well according to consumer reports, not your perception ,Toyota has one of the highest build qualitys of any manufacturer.
Check this article if you dont beleive me
Toyota dominates vehicle quality rankings
DETROIT - Toyota Motor Corp. continued to dominate the initial quality rankings, grabbing the top spot in 11 out of 19 segments in the 2006 survey by J.D. Power and Associates, released Wednesday.
Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand, came in second in the overall nameplate rankings, with 93 problems per 100 vehicles. The Toyota brand came in fourth with 106.
“They’re the closest thing to defect-free,” Ivers said of the two brands.
In vehicle segments, Toyota had five winners, including the Corolla for compact car, the Camry for midsize car, and the Sequoia for large sport utility vehicle. Lexus had six top vehicles, including the IS 250 and IS 350 for entry premium car, the SC 430 for premium sporty car and LX 470 for large premium SUV.

The build quality hasnt changed much over the years, Toyota always puts out some of the most reliable cars of any manufacturer. For example, if your timing belt breaks on your car, you need a whole new head. If the timing belt breaks on my 3sgte, all I need is a new belt.
