Mazda Rx7 or Lancer Evolution?

Hey guys, I was wondering what would be a better car for me. I plan on making it a drag car, a 1995 Mazda RX-7 R2 or a 2009 Lancer evolution.  

there both good. the rx7 is a lot harder to do work on, but it can take a beatin and still run great. the evoX is faster stock, easier to work on, but since its new, its harder to find performance parts for it.

the RX-7 has a HUGE aftermarket for it. parts can get costly, but you get what you pay for.

also, the evo is AWD, so although that makes the world of a difference traction-wise, it's also going to be heavier. and like godfather was saying, because it's still fairly new, aftermarket parts are still being developed and availability/ selection at this time may be scarce.

but you could go on for ages debating the pros and cons. i think it'll mostly come down to budget and personal preference.

well the evoX is a pig off the line(due to no manual tranny) and will get beat by just about anything on the road so i would] go with an rx7 which is lighter, faster and a much cooler car. not trying to be rude but awd doesn't matter when a car leaves like the new evo  

you do know that only the mr is a sporttronic tranny. the base evo X is a six speed manny. also the sporttronic is a badass tranny. it has great shift control. the sporttronic only has one auto controled shift while in manny style is at stop idle down shift. other than that you control every shift like a manny tranny.

rx7s are kinda heavy. the evo is just a bit heavier.

I didn't realize they were that heavy. I could have sworn they were lighter?

no. thats why the prelude was and still is not a highly tuned car. ya the h22 is a good motor, but they were to heavy.

rx7 hands down. faster, lighter, and even though its being compared to an awd, ive seen how the evo is off the line and it wasnt to great(no offense lancer guys).

no, im just saying theyre a pretty big car(4-door) so they are a little slow out the whole. not saying they cant be fast just stock they could be better if you lose the four door characteristic. but hey mitsubishi did good with yet another lancer...thats just my opinion

i saw a stock evo x beat a upgraded turbod rx7 at the 1/8 mile. the evo won by .26 seconds.

i'd probably go wit the lancer evo. the news one will have some good aftermarket parts for them soon.
