hey guys im about ged rid of my jetta and im torn between two cars, a 1999-2000 civic si (or any civic under 2000)or a 1g eagle talon tsi.

the talon comes stock with awd and all the turbo junk but is older and ive heard bad about dsm. hondas are reliable but are more expensive and dont come stock with a turbo so id have to spend more money( im on an 8k budget >.< )

if anyone could shed some light on my dilemna please go ahead, im all ears.

thanks, garrett

I'd go with the Talon.  I own a Talon and am very satisfied with it, though I don't have the AWD version.  I would of liked too, but hey got what I got.  Anyway, the Talon is the same thing as the same year Mitsubishi.  The only difference is the badge.  The engines are the same if you get the same platforms, in fact my DSM actually has a Mitsubishi symbol on the cover.  Anyway, the AWD Talon would be a superior choice the the FWD Civics.  One because of the drivetrain, and two because of the stock turbo.

Ya, I agree with tequila, 1g is the wayt to go.  What is wrong with the rear end?  You don't like the looks or the technical stuff about it?

the 1g spoilers can be removed, but then you have to seal all the mount holes.. that and the benefit of the 1g's have the 6 bolt and the 2g's have the 7 bolt, which is notorious for crank walk.  6 bolt doesnt have that problem.

Ya, my 1g has treated me pretty nice, but I can't say the same to it.  I ride the hell out of that thing.  It has seen it shares of damages due too my heavy foot on its stock motor with bout 15 psi running through.  But I'm gunna get her tuned up here shortly once I get some more money if I haven't sold it yet.

go with the talon.  the awd is way better than the fwd and setting the engine for the turbo is at least a grand before you even get into the turbo which will cost at least 3.  if you get a car that comes stock with a turbo you can just build on that.

Ya, the AWD is a lot better than the FWD, I wish I coulda got one but, AWD turbo with a 5 speed,is like the ultimate set-up.

the only thing im too conserned about is the maintinence on the talon. it will be a daily driver (since i dont have any other car to drive) and i heard of terror stories about the reliability on them. ill only have about 1 grand left over after the purchase so if the repairs are more than that im screwed

HONDA ALL THE WAY.... you buy that pile of junk talon.. and when it breaks down on you in traffic, gets towed to the shop, and its an arm and a leg to fix, you are going to wish you had bought the Honda.
Go with the better car... Honda
