This will be my first project, and being the annoying and stubborn idiot that I am, I want to take on something really hard. I really just want to make a statement with this one. A kind of joining of two worlds. The look of the American Muscle with the secret Imported power. I'm tackling something pretty big here. So, I'd love ANY advice and help that you guys could give.

This is from the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift Wikipedia page. I remebered seeing this car on NOPI Tuner Vision or a show like that.

1967 Ford Mustang Fastback
Dark Green/White Stripes.
2001 Nissan Skyline GT-R RB26DETT Engine.
1998 Nissan Skyline 5-speed 2WD Transmission. Brackets and Pulleys are Custom Fabricated.
Sean Boswell Battles with Takashi in the Touge races. Survives its run down the mountain with heavy damage.

So it is possible, but of course they had a movie budget to work with.

Cool, I'll have to watch that. My buddy Sam keeps telling me it's a must-see for car enthusiasts.

From what I've read on the journals for the movie. It was fairly simple. They did have to mod the suspension, but for the most part, it fit well. The old mustangs are built for six's anyway. I'll have to replace the old transmission obviously when the engine goes in. I'll def. make some modifications to the engine bay so that the twin turbo setup will fit. I'm also thinking of switching a lot of the body out for carbon fiber replicas to keep the weight down. I'm def. going to keep the interior as original as possible with my own hybrid customizations. Also, like I said, I'm going to go with the newer engine too cause I want to get as much hp as possible. If anyone would like to correct me on anything or just add your own ideas or suggestions feel free.

I really want to make this car as nice as possible to represent a kind of merging of two cultures that aren't so different. So, please give me ideas cause this is for the Import/Domestic enthusiasts.

if you wanna do that so bad, dont waste a shelby gt 500. get a cheaper stock straight six or 289 mustang. the straight six would be the better choice. look around, you could probably find one for under a grand. my mom picked up a 64 1/2 pony for only a grand, and those are the most expensive straight sixes youll find.

godfathers right. i like the idea and all that, but the gt 500's are rare enough as it is, why go butchering one up? if your dead set on the look go for a fastback, or a mach1.

please, just leave the shelby's and the boss series alone.

yes please let that american muscle stay true, especially if its a gt500, they are amazing,i like tunin, butilove muscle, it hurt me when i saw them do that to the mustang in tokio drift. it was cool, but its a classic american muscle, if it was a new one, go right ahead, or go with the straight 6 or 289's just do not butcher a beautiful car like the gt500

If its a totally stripped gt500 it probably isn't going to be chopped apart anyway.  also, maybe he already has it in his possession and it would be a set back to go buy a different base model.  And i think that it will still be a beautiful car and be a good gt500.  It is not like he is chopping it up and makin some kinda of ugly half/half car that has no point.  he is going to be building the outside and majority of the inside to be just like the GT500, so in turn it is going to a gt500, the only difference is the motor that is sitting in it.  and the RB26DETT engine is a fantastic engine and has been my favorite for years.  So if this is what the guy has to work with, let him work with it.  And it's his project.  If that is what he wants and has envisioned then by god let him do it.  I have seen so many projects, from tuners to off-road rigs, go wrong because person a changed their mind about it. So in turn, they did what person a wanted instead of what they invisioned.  So hey, i like your idea and i say go for it.  Its still going to be a gt500 when its done, with a better and even more reliable engine sittin in its engine bay.  More power to you man! you got my support!

210k on a 2JZ into a Camaro ?  Thats a lot of money. All depends on how much power you want out of an RB. If its basic 500 whp kind of deal, then you could do it for under $50k including all parts and labor. All the custom things you will need to hook it up.  Engine, harness, turbo manifold, intercooler, turbo piping,  ECU , tune , radiator, driveshaft, transmission, clutch, motor mounts, transmission mount. I would probably just do something like an AIM dash on it .

If its crazy, and you want something like 1000 hp, then you can spend $50k on just the engine.  $20k on a sequential trans.
