Hey im looking for a good car to tune for drifting. i leaning towards a 240sx, but I want to look at all my options. Any suggestions?

depends on the type of money your looking to spend. the 240 is a good option tho.

if u're in a price range of a 240SX then I can't think of any other options for you. But if you're willing to spend a little more, you have Honda S2K, Toyota MR2 (really hard to get the hang of it), Lexus SC-series (aka Toyota Soarer) ...etc...

Opt for a front-mounted engine, where seating is as close to the rear wheels as possible.
BMW 3series coupe
BWM Z4 coupe
AUDI TT
PONTIAC G6
The closer the seating to the rear wheeles, the more sensitive the slide will be and the better the "feel" for the slide.
Or try a high revving engine aswell (Mazda RX8)
The high range means you can play with the revvs and aplly power in a better range to adjust to the slide.

RX8 has no torque, so it would be bad for drifting. It'll drift, but you'll have a harder time. Best bet is 240sx. Great chassis, just needs a nice SR engine.

an rx8 is great for driftin. what the hell are you talkin about. you cant beat 9000rpm at stock. you dont need a bunc of torque if you are driftin. its all about speed, and rev control, and car control.

It is much harder to break the rear end free and drift with a car with low torque numbers. You need a decent amount of torque and power to start the drift. Why do you think the majority of drift cars are turbo'd.

not necassarily. AE86 is one exmple that comes to mind. You can induce a drift with *almost any car, by either brake, or let off to get the weight shifted towards the front wheels, or pendulum drift where you use the ass ends weight against it to break traction rally style. then you use the appropriate gear and use throttle and countersteer to maintain along with kicking the clutch in to guide the slide.

That's why I said the majority of drift cars are turbo, not all =) and also why I said its harder, not impossible =p.

yeah, any car with RWD and about 200HP or above can drift but the ones with turbos are easier to drift at short straight lines and easier to maintain a good drift (good long drift actually)

Ok ya got me there. not really into the whole drifting thing anymore lol, not since my wreck anyways. Now i devote my knowledge towards unique and style. Which ive found is ALOT harder.

man ur an idiot only one of those cars is front wheel drive and that would be the pontiac G6 depending on the audi TT it may be all wheel drive but both bmw's are rear whell drive and the they can seriously drft so you might want to take note yourself

hahahaha, well said, virtually all bimmers are either RWD or AWD, i have not seen any FWD BMW's
