1) celica=FWD supra=RWD... you would have to figure out how to mount the 2JZ transversely, then try and find a transmission.

2) the celica's engine bay is meant for a 4 banger. if you could solve the above problem, good luck just getting it to fit.

3) Just because the body lines are about the same proportions, the chassis structures are pretty much apples to oranges.

If your dead set on a 2JZ engine, your best bet would be to get an MK3 supra (the 86.5-92) and swap the 2JZ into that. but the 1jz and 7mgte in those are capable engines themselves.

other than the cost of the engine and trans, your going to need the ecu etc.  your also going to need a custom driveshaft, new motormounts. I used to own an MK3, and theres plenty of room in there so it wont require notching the firewall or a new trans hump.  Other than those you SHOULD be set. For something like this my best guess is have about 1500 to 2 g's for labor.  That being said, the swap is expensive, where if its the 89-92 mk3, the 1JZ GTE is just as capable of the power a 2JZ has stock, as long as you get a MHG and ARP head studs. minor bolt ons to the 1JZGTE (after gasket and studs) will have you at about the same power as a stock 2JZ, without the headaches of a swap as well as saving some $$ in the process.

correction, the 1jz is a jdm motor only, but will directly drop in and uses the same trans. the 7MGTE is the US engine.  But my suggestion if you want a supra, get an mk3, drive the 7M till it blows, then drop in a 1jz.  (btw the 1jz according to wiki is a twin turbo at 280 hp)

the biggest gain your going to notice on the 7M series is going to be the exhaust.  The stock one is extremely restrictive.  But yes 300 hp is within reach, but before you start turnin the boost up, make sure you get the metak head gasket and ARP studs. (and torque it to the ARP specs, not toyotas) as far as a turbo upgrade goes, first thing your gonna want is a FMIC. also, your gonna wanna switch to lexus 550cc injectors.  basically they are really good cars, that dont cost very much (insurance too) that are capable of power, and reletively reliable once the head gasket demons are dealt with.

www.toyota-supra.info is an extremely good forum to check out if your lookin at a supra

No problem, up till 2 months ago i owned an 86.5 MK3 supra. traded it for my MR2 turbo. The supra treated me fairly well while i had it, other than blowing a HG (twice, once for me just going with a regular gasket and turning the boost too high).  That site i gave you will have all of the info you'll need for the MK3 supra.  Good luck with it if you decide to get it.

I love this car lol.. i got mine in a straight trade for my supra, so i guess i paid bout 4500-5 g's ish, cuz thats about what my supra was worth.  The mr2 turbo stock runs low 13's in the 1/4, with minor bolt ons in the 12's.  It can outbrake a ferrari 360, and has the same skidpad as a ferrari f40.  I love the fact that my mid engine at 220 hp, can roast a C6 vette thru the twisties.  They are a blast to drive, but i wouldnt reccomend it if theres any chance of snow in your area, the MR setup is death incarnate if its slippery out... Mine has yet to see any snow, and has only been rained on once since ive had it.

Well Id like to make a few corrections.

The 3rd gen 3sgte MR2's that were built 94+ in Japan and Europe are the only MR2 turbos capable of low 13's in stock form.

And its the 93+ MR2 Turbo's that can outbrake a Ferrari 360 Modena and get the same skidpad as the Ferrari f40, .94g and 60-0 in 107ft respectively.

91's werent capable of the same feat due to smaller tires from the factory than what 93's got, but still a good chassis to build off of

Glad to see someones been reading my posts.

If I were the guy with the celica, if he wants a fast celica why not just buy a Celica alltrac? They come stock with a 3sgte motor and AWD, granted they are very hard to find.
