Let me be as specific as possible about what happened to the car and what i've done.
was driving on the highway around 70 mph and the car just died - i had lights on the dash. pulled over and it started in about 2 minutes - idled smoothly. The car drove for a minute and then died again. Started again and drove for a minute and then the car wont start at all after this.
The car has fuel pressure - verified by loosening the bolt on the fuel rail and turning on key - spewed everywhere. The car has good blue spark. The timing belt matches up correctly to timing marks. I replaced the distributer cap, rotor, ignition module - all new parts. Last night i replaced the crank position sensor - all to no avail.
When jumping acrosss the TeN and Grnd in the diagnostic port, the car gives me a code 18 which isnt available in the chilton manual or a list of codes i downloaded off the net. The vehicle is a standard 5 speed transmission 2.5 liter v6, 1993. The manual states that the diagnostic test wont produce codes on a manual transmission (is this true?) and that i have to use a scan tool which i dont have.
I think the code 18 (retrieved from alldata) was for the pcv which needs to be replaced - if memory serves me correctly.
Cant think of anything else to say about it but would really appreciate any advice on troubleshooting/diagnosing/FIXING!
Thanks!
Matt
