What are your goals for the car? power? handling?

Thank you for the guru compliment 'teg, but i havent had it long enough to be considered a guru.

Cuz for about 2k, you could either go with exhaust/intake/header, or a set of coilovers and possibly nice sticky tires.

91 MR-2 Turbo 5-spd
BBS lightweight wheels with Goodyear F1 rubber
Tit-alum A arms with Koni adj. coilovers
Rotura big brake kit in front

If the man is trying to be fast, his best bet is to swap in a 3rd gen 3sgte, assuming that the MK1 chassis is nice and in worthwhile condition for such a swap.

If its rusty and beatup, its probably not worth doing a 3sgte swap into, but the 3sgte powered MK1 MR2's are some of the fastest MR2's in existence due to there light chassis.

Otherwise you could go with a 4agze and put a turbo in replacement of the supercharger
