they are fairly decent... not the fastest, but not slow either.  people are gonna flame em cuz of the FWD, but they are one of the few cars recently that domestics have gotten "right".  I just dont like the srt4 because, after all, it is a neon <gag>. and the cobalt ss, with the rediculous wing.... i thought it was a ricer, before a friend enlightened me to the fact that the wing was stock.

the only thing domestic about the srt4 is the body and frame. the drivetrain is all dsm. the 4g64t is a badass motor. its the turbod version of the 3rd gen eclipse motor. they can push out alot of power. its an old school block so it can take the beatin.

Just fyi, if I'm thinking about the same SRT-4(03-05) as you are, that SRT-4 doesn't use the 4G64 engine, it uses a slightly different and turbocharged version of the PT Cruiser's engine.(A855 or A853 engine) =) Also the last true DSM that came out was the 2nd Gen Eclipse/Talon, so SRT-4 is all domestic.

id recomend the cobalt ss. you can always have the wing removed. i saw a bas assssss SS the other day at the mall. carbon fiber hood, trunk, black on black. it was nice and clean. lowered a bit too.

but the main reason i recomend it is because ive done quite a bit reading up on it.  the SS out performes cars that are wayy more expensive that are even rwd with its fwd.  car and driver magazine had done a lot of testing on the track with the SS and they love it... if you want i can e-mail you the article just let me know.

the bolt patterns and block are literally the same as mine. theres a guy in town with a boosted 01 eclipse gs and he used the sleeves and the innerds of the srt4. the only if between the srt4 engine and mine is the position of the intake and exhaust. the eclipse is a rear intake, front exhaust, and the srt4 is front intake, and rear exhaust. the engine codes may be different, but the blocks are the same.
