I just bought a saturn as a project car, I want to make a "sleeper" car out of it....I have a supercharged 3.8L motor that I want to swap with the stock 1.9L DOHC...I still kind of new to the whole FWD thing...but the 3.8L that I have is bored out...it's ported and polished and it's an aftermarket supercharger...not the stock one. Is this swap possible?

If the car didnt come with a 3.8L Supercharged motor from the factory, than there is no easy way to swap in that motor without welding in new motor mounts and cutting out parts of the firewall to make it fit. It is a logistical nightmare to try and swap in a motor that the car was never meant for.

If your trying to make a sleeper, I recommend buying a car like the Pontiac GTP that already comes with a 3.8L Supercharged motor.

Hell, even a Dodge Caravan 2.5L Turbo would be so much easier to make a sleeper out of, than trying to make a saturn into a sleeper.

Well, if I take the stock, 1.9L DOHC which has approx. 127hp. and have it bored, turbo-charged, ported and polished, a performance cam, raise the compression and little things like lightweight flywheel...underdrive pullys..ect. Do you think I would be able to out-run an all stock tibruon?

Seems like your spending a lot of money to smoke a not very fast car to begin with.

If I were you, for the sake of eziness, I would buy a car that already comes with a turbo/supercharged motor stock. If you want a sleeper, thats fine, there are lots of boring looking cars with strong turbomotors from the factory.

www.turbominivan.com is my favorite one if I wanted a sleeper. An absolute wolf in sheeps clothing.

On the other hand, I have to give props to this Saturn owner, not sure what he did to make it do this.

BUt a saturn, your going to havea  difficult time finding performance parts for it, as it was designed for fuel economy, not racing from the factory. Maybe one of those supercharged Saturn Ion's or the turbo saturn sky has potential to be fast, but I strongly recommend against taking an absolute point a to point b economy car and attempt to make a race car out of it.

Ok, so I talked to someone today about the engine swap...he has done his own fabrication for some-time...he said it was possible to do the swap, but wasn't worth the time or money. He suggested me get the same engine that comes in the saturn sky and build that...he said that there wouldn't be much fabrication at all, and that the 1.9 is too weak to be bored out and all of that. I'd love to make a race car out of a mini-van, but the thing is for one I don't have much money...that's why I wanted to take the engine from my '99 Buick Regal...the 3.8...which I have put about 15 hundred dollars in previously and put it in the saturn...He suggested I take the motor to a swap meet and trade...I guess that this is the way I'll end up going...unless you guys forsee a prob. that I don't yet...

the 1.9 saturn was made with racing in mind. 91 came with factory headers. 91 to 99 have steel forgded rods . i run mid 13s allday with a totally stock sl2 with a 75 shot of nitrous. i have put nitrous on everything and found there is no honda that can take a true 75 shot of nitrous for long. they all break connecting rods. my saturn ran 185,000 miles with 85,000 on spray. i put 200 shot n could not blow it. beat a prostock mustang and a wrx also a turbo civic with a saturn stock with a 3inch cat back exust and nitrous. I had 3 saturns. now i have a civic n blow it 3 times wish i had my saturn back
