haha this one happened last weekend when we were comin home from camping. so near my town in cali there is a little.. its not even a town its like a bunch of hovels. anyway its right on the coast and to get from where i live to there is one hell of a windy road. im talkin to straightaways longer than a 1/16 of a mile. more blind turns then not. and with a new 08 civic si. a shitload of fun. we were comin home from a nice weekend (and a nice hangover) of partying and camping. we get behind around 5 cars, and im talking damn. 25mps around the turns and brake lights lighting up everywhere we look like a christmas tree. we us, in all of our youthly smartness decide to say **** it on one of the blind turns and cut across the double yellow to pass all of em. the first time we did it thank god we were clear and got about three of them. we were like hey that worked ehh! so we start pushin the next two in line, the next blinder comes up and we dip out of traffic just far enough to get the crap scared out of us when a tanker blares by goin the other way, now... if we were smart im sure we woulda stopped there.... but by god we are not smart, so back out again. we dip out, my friend kicks it to 3rd and we go past the other two. so we were  feeling pretty good about it all. then, the coup de grace. we see 8 cars in front of us. as if 5 wasnt enough. although the kicker in this one was a foxbody mustang gt. to bad it was an automatic though. but the one holden them all back was about a 1989 buick. im talkin old lady car allll the way. we we are like.... phew lets do it. first time we get even a hint of a straightaway we get two. (did i mention theres three of us in this car, my boy rob who was our d tackle and 325lbs, me our d-end whos 210 and nucka nick whos our linebacker and at a nice 245lbs)so we got 6 cars to go, one of them the gt, we see the next turn, downshift before we get there and he hits the gas. we go around the turn doing 75, tires squeekin, just hopin theres no one comin the other way, take 4. now its us, the gt. and the old lady in the buick who gives all old drivers the bad name. barely seeing over the steering wheel, blue hair and glasses the works. so we are behind the gt, and he looks about the same age as us so i lift the finger (index... jeez) just to give him the heads up. and he is like ok. so at the next turn we both pass grandma and wait for the straight-away that we both know is about a mile down the road. so were goin pretty good and when we finally hit the straightaway we cross the double yellow while the stang sits on the right side, we downshift, and step on it, we pull away a bit but not enough when, wouldnt you know it! a freaking garbage truck starts comin the next way. me and my friend look at each other like crap and step on it, we got back in the other lane with about hmm, two feet between us and the garbage truck. that was a fun ride home

oh and i dont condone this... i was just a passenger

Im going to start by saying never attempt to drift an 88 camaro with stock wheels.  I was cruisin down rt5 in ct in my now totalled beast of a camaro.  550 hp built 350 5 speed.  when i see the on ramp for I291E comin up.  this onramp is a nice sloping uphill that just begs to be drifted.  I speed up cuz i know that to sustain a drift decently long enough id have to hit it at at least 70.  i hit 85 mph heading into the turn, feint, and power over. at this point im at a 20 deg angle or so, doin 85 mph, an im lovin every minute of it. as Im about 1/2 way thru the turn, the driver rear rim spokes just shatter.  The hub bites into the pavement and I wind up flipping it 6 times. All i have to say is thank god for a rollcage, racing seats, and a 4 point harness. I would up walking away with only a broken collarbone, and losing my car, which looked like a crushed beer can.

Moral of the story, if your gonna be stupid, shell out the cash for track fees

I've yet to see a Modified MR2 even touch past 150, so ...gearing or not, I don't think thats gonna happen.

scrotum, every time you post, you make Toyota owners look dumber and dumber.

Just stop.

Your MR2 is not touched by the hand of God, brother...it's just an MR2.

and my car is just a supra.

They're not Ferraris.

No there not Ferrari's, there called "The poormans Ferrari" because they give Ferrari like performance for a fraction of the cost.

150mph is nothing to a MR2, 218mph is the top speed for them according to MR2 landspeed records on mr2oc.

I know it'll go over 150...it's called sarcasm.

Point is, most everyday MR2's don't go 180.
Period.

I'm sure there is one that will go 218, but I promise you there's more money in that car than most people have made in their entire lifetime.

That mid-engine layout is great for handling, but pushed beyond its limits, and it DOES have limits, they're a ticking oversteer-timebomb.

Generally, the MR2s that do highway cruises with us on weekends are at the very back of the pack , with the other 200hp imports like 240s, civics, and integras. They usually lack the top end for the 150+mph guys up front.

I'd love an MR2 to zip around in, but it's not my first choice as a MR platform.

Now a Noble M12...THAT's a badass mid-engine rocket!

haha well its hard to tell when its on the computor :P

and thats true, takes a nice wad of cash to make it go that fast. and you can make a lot of cars go fast, just need enough dough to take it to the next level.

haha, damn supra owners :P
i would love a 4th gen supra i dunno though
fav platform is still either the sti or a s15 silvia

The dumbest thing I've done would be buying my Integra from San Francisco where the salt water air made every nut and bolt rust.

Not paying attention in elbow to elbow traffic and rear ending the guy in front of me.  Luckily there was no damage and the guy had like a record or something and was scared to have it reported.
