Down payment; done.... I think with all those upgrades and power you couldn't wan't more. Unless your derranged and want to put more power and torque-steer that thing into an oncomming car or semi then be my guest.

What's left to do on that thing. Upgrade the suspension a bit, sway bar, and some rims and tires?... After 20odd years of Cavalier the bastards finally build something right! And nobody's buying it?!.....

What's the payments for a 10k car after you give them the money you got? $170-200 a month? Come on! Whoever buys a Civic Si over that thing must have a lot of brand loyalty or is a complete dullard... (and I say that with compasion    ).....

It's like a 23k car.  Plus, I can't work right now due to NCAA rules, so I won't have an income for 4 years. So, I dunno how I could do payments.

Then guy a 91-96 300ZX N/A or TT and live happy...Best option overall...as far as used cars go. Your budget is too tight to be completely different.

You could also get an 80's 300Z you know the ugly ones and put a VQ35DE engine in it. Or a 280Z and put a RB20 or LS1 engine and feel happy all over again.

With $5k-$8k i could get a really good car and have a good number of mods on it. I completely agree with you about not wanting a car that everyone has cause civics are EVERWHERE! They're like flies and sadly most of them sound like em too.

I don't know if you want to go with a tuner car or muscle but seeing that tuners are cheaper to fix up I recommend that. Also the way gas prices are going you'll be spending all your money on gas and won't be able to buy much mods with an 8-cylinder.

For tuners I think its always best to go with Japanese cause they did start it all. Lol. The only other ones are Dodge's Neon SRT4 (which is now the caliber.), Chevy's Cobalt SS (which I've heard that that supercharger sucks for the engine cause its a four-cylinder and it'd work better on a bigger engine.), and Ford's Focus ST (which is actually fast and I've only really seen like two of those.)

Honda/Acura, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Toyota are the best in my opinion. Each have their four cylinder cars. But because you can't really buy a newer car you should probably get one like around 96-99. Honda and Acura have of course the civics and integras which are everywhere. Mazda has the protege which is pretty good. Mitsubishi has my car the mirage which is the same as a lancer except the engine is a 1.8l instead of a 2.0l. Though the lancer only puts out like 7 more horsepower. But as an owner I recommend this car cause I think it looks better than the lancer (except for the 08. lol.) and its lighter. And I've won more races than I've lost. And I only have an short ram air intake. I don't have much on it as for horsepower-wise cause I prefer on making it faster on the corners so I put most of my money on suspension, brakes and tires. I beat COUNTLESS civics but not SIs of course but I know after exhaust and ignition mods I can take em. Currently I am trying to convert it manual cause its automatic. (another disadvantage from those civics but still beating em.) You don't see much of my car because the engine sucks ass and most people that get it end up trying to turn it into the evo iv, v or vi. Which is what I am currently doing.

Nissan has the sentra, 200sx and 240sx. Don't see much of those either being modded. (Except for the 240sx.)

and Toyota and Scion have the corolla, celica and tC. Which I'm sorry to say cause I love and give respect to Toyota but you see these cars everywhere too.

If you want to see if these cars have a lot of available mods. Go to andysautosport.com

Here's your cure my friend....

A mid 90's Miata. Yep, I said it miata....

Get a cheap one, do a simple rebuild and turbocharge it... After that spend the rest on suspension upgrades and if some is to spare some nice practice sessions at the local track....

And its RWD mind you....

yea i had completely forgetten about a miata. like shake said, turbo it, coilover and sticky tires. Then laugh at all the civic ricers when your "chick car" roasts their ass thru the twisties.

Oh I forgot about another one! The Mirage VR4.... those were practically the first EVO, or the original to come (though I think they only came in  a Doge Badge) The Spirit RT. Both great, great, cars. Both hard to find and worth it....

That or the Miata whichever...

If you're looking for something different a Honda Del Sol or Subaru WRX is what your looking for. I would suggest a '97 Del Sol, I don't see Del Sols in good shape. A '99 or '00 Subaru is good. Both cars has upgrades available.
