hey was wondering just bought 91 mr2 lhd has the 2.2 in it plannin on buyin 3sgte motor from a jdm store in calgary , i was wondering how much hp would my mr2 have then it says the motor has 204 but is that at the wheels or flywheel and my buddy just bought a silvia with a sr20 all stock and it says 204 hp and i was wondering would my car be faster once i swap the motor and turbo and tranny then his silvia , and is the mr2 hard to learn how to drift , i herd they are it has a 2.2 in it now non turbo and it spins the tires good never tried to drift it in the dry pavement but in the rain it spins around super easy and also ha , should i just sell the car and get a diff car to learn or tune this one up with some wheels, suspension , and bigger turbo , thanks for the help

Ive also recently aquired an mr2, and i think thats whp. Itll be a good race with the silvia but i think youll come out on top as your car is (most likely) lighter). As for drifting the mr2, it is possible, but difficult, as the engine in back and a condition called snap oversteer, where if your not really good on throttle control, youl just wind up spinning it. Check out "the drift bible". They drift an MR2 in it. and as far as your car choice goes, the mr2 (in the hands of a good driver), is an insanely fast car thru twisties, and handles like a ferrari, but as for drifting its one of the more difficult cars to use. Car choice all depends on what you plan on using it for.

A 2nd generation MR2 vs a Silvia has an obvious winner on a straight line or on a time attack course, but in drifting I would take a Silvia without hesitation. The MR2 would just be too difficult to control.
