I have a 1992 4 door Toyota Corolla with a 1.6L 4AFE DOHC 16valve, FWD 3 speed auto. Its a great car and fun to drive with only around 144000 miles! But i just cant let the car stay stock! I have been doing a little reasearch on later model engines from the corolla and heard about the 4AGE Black top 20 valve 1995-1998 and also the 4AGE 20 valve Silver top 1991-1995. I have plans on doing an engine and tranny swap. I want to stay FWD with hopefully a 5 or 6 speed manual shootin for about 250hp out of the motor with mods and internals... But I dont know which one would be a better choice the silver top or the later black top? Would the 4AGE silver or black even mount in my 92 corolla? Would it even be worth it? Or would it be better just to mod my current motor and do the required internal port & polish & bore for more power? Or is there a later engine than the silver and black top 4AGE's that would be a better choice? I havent been able to find answers to the questions...  I need the help of an experienced tuner with this one....
