basics of turbo charger install.
1) remove crap in way
2) change header for turbo manifold
3)bolt exhaust side of turbo to manifold
4) Bolt intercooler where itll fit (unless theres a spot from factory)
5) Plumb the pipes

Check a forum specific to your car and turbo kit for more detail, but thats the basics.  Also, make sure the engine can handle the boost(block strength, CR, etc etc.)

By block strength i mean how strong the internals are.  For instance if you have an aluminum block, your going to want to have steel or iron piston sleeves put in before you start turning up the boost, as aluminum is a softer metal, which means its more prone to failure when pushin a ton af boost.  however thats just a guideline, as even aluminum blocks, depending on design can handle a ton of power, like your 4g63 for example.  CR is shorthand for Compression ratio. (volume of cylinder at BDC to volume at TDC) lower CR engines handle boost better as theres more room for the boost gases at TDC(BDC= bottom dead center TDC= Top Dead Center).  If you want to understand the basics of how car systems work, browse thru www.howstuffworks.com as for info specific to your car, check out some of the mitsu forums.

Dude the op asked what are the basics to installing a turbo charger, not turbo setup. Rabb posted it in it's most basic form. Nothing wrong with that. If the op wanted more details he'll ask them.

there is also some wiring involved for piggy back controllers and/or stand alone ECU's required for balancing AFR's and advancing cam angles when dealing with a car running an after market turbo kit.  on most cars installing new injectors is required.
