Im looking for some advice on which engine to put in my auto s14 240sx se.  Im coming home from Iraq in a little over a month. My budget for the engine is $4500.  I wanna convert the car to manual and I was thinking about an rb25det swap. But after reading an artical on importtuner about the sr20det blacktop running 255 whp on 5 boltons I was really impressed.  Im doing the work with myself and a couple of buddies weve all done swaps and built engines before. What I was wondering is which engine should I do and what do you guys think I should do for parts on the engines and how much hp could I actually get out of them on the $4500 budget and the sr engine should I get the s13 or the s14 blacktop. Thank you for taking the time in reading this

Normally i would tell you that doing a manual tranny swap is pointless but doing such a swap on 240's is actually pretty simple.  Took my neighbors shop about one afternoon to get the job done.  Which engine you swap will depend on how much you want to spend.  An SR20DET will be an easy swap, while an RB25DET, or RB26DETT will not be direct swaps.  I would just go with an SR20DET and call it a day.  Go with the black top SR20DET.  It has a smidgen more power from the factory.

Yeah I think I am going to do the s14 sr20det.  The RB sounds great but its going to cost another 1500 ontop of the 2500 for the engine just to get the parts for the swap and thats if the everything goes well.
