you'll need an all wheel drivetrain from a tsi, a whole *** load of money, lots of welding experience, and very good custom fabrication skills.

I don't get the whole scuffing if not damnation of FWD... Its just a platform to make cars affordable, that's it. Imagine if a base civic with A/C started at 21K?
FWD is for fun, pocket rocket, don't care if you break it cars. I've driven RWD cars most of my life and I do hate the Understeer that is a curse on my current car, but it was cheap as hell!
By the way AWD cars suffer from Understeer as well and its pretty much the same technique to dial it out as a FWD. It's awesome having 4 wheels spining, but not when the lawyers say "The ones in the front should spin more..."
If your car is FWD start working on the suspension before you start messing with the idea of power....LSD's, Rear Swaybars, Springs, Shocks, and the sort.
I recommend this book: High-Performance Handling Handbook by: Don Alexander It didn't make me into an expert, but I did go "Well I'm a *** idiot" and learned a couple of things on the way... It's around 20 bucks at Barnes & Noble.
The moral of all this writing: Accept what you got and stop bitching (and I say that with compasion )....

The difference between FWD and AWD is that AWD doesn't lose grip nearly as easy. I drive a FWD car with heavy suspension mods, and I love it, but my next car will be AWD for the sole reason that I like a car that stays glued to the ground. I will say the best way to eliminate understeer in a FWD car is to dial in some negative camber in the front.

I know... its just that I hate people saying "Hey I got a new car! But its FWD " We all get what we can or have to get simple... There's no need to be ashamed of it or saddened over the fact.
I do construction jobs on the side, fixing up houses across the mountain where there are a lot of "cookie cutter" homes (don't buy them...they won't even last 10 years before something starts coming loose.) and I have to take the mountain pass which has some gnarly turns. Usually I'm beat tired and don't pay attention to the speedometer. When one day I passed a lot of biker boys in their fancy motor-bikes and you should've seen their faces as they get passed by a Fit on the outside at 90 in a turn. Me with my stoic face covered in sheet-rock and wood chips looking at them while they look back wide eyed through their fancy helmets and stupid biker clothes...
All people need to do is learn to drive the car they got to its fullest. Go to a cone dodging competition. Its cheap as hell and you only need a valid drivers license and its (excuse my language) super-duper-uber FUN!!!

so the talon being a 2nd gen DSM like the Mitsubishi, does this mean most Mitsubishi parts can fit on the talon?

^ Yup. Same engine and same body, so all, if not all parts, are interchangeable.
