I'm 17 i'm saving for a new car and i'm bout to to start my new job so i'll be buying in a few months.I was wondering which car would be the best for me to start with?I'm realy leaning towards eithr the 2009 Eclipse GT or The Evo X-GSR.Anything i should know or any idea which car would be best.I was thinking the GT because its a v6 and could probably get more HP out of it later!

What kind of car you looking for? To me there are several different types of "tuner cars"
Tuner Muscle: Usually six cylinder, big power, drag racer, handling an afterthought, moderate-heavy weight ex: Mitsubishi 3000's, New mustangs (not an import I know) Supras
"Go Kart" imports: To me these are the opposite of muscle, popular autocross cars, Turn on a dime, lightweight, not much power stock but often can be improved. Often daily drivers with get up and go
ex: Miatas, Golf GTI's, Integras, Civic Si/Type-r's
All-rounders: Detuned race cars, moderate weight, only a little less power than muscle (An FD RX-7 Has lots of power, but not as much as a new mustang), handle well but not go-cart well, (A miata handles better than an FD)
ex: RX-7's, Imprezas, Evo's, Mr-2's.
I'd stay away from the eclipse as it doesn't fit into any catagory well, its FWD, meaning it's not the best drag car. It's heavy meaning it doesnt make a good go-kart, and it can't keep up with an impreza or rx-7 in the all rounder class.
if your a new driver go with a go-kart car. Learn to drive, a miata is a flashy convertible with all the bells and whistles and can be made to have lots of power with enough wrench time. If you've ever seen the show "10 best sports cars of all time" on SPEED they list the miata as the best sports car ever, ahead of the Porsche 911.
Plus chicks dig riding in them.

^ street racing FTL. its fun until ur in the back of a police cruiser. where do you live? i'll do some research and help you find some autoX's/circuit tracks/etc somewhat close to you. I drove 2 hours at 5 30 in the morning last month to hit the track, and it was a lot better than the ticket i'm still paying off for some stupid ***

An evo has as much power as the new mustangs do, just cause it's a 4 cyl doesn't mean it has no power.
300HP is unnecessary, and dangerous for a new driver. Keep shopping around, if your dead set on something new look at some other companies, if your dead set on the EVO keep it on the track, or at the very least only put yourself in danger on the streets- no traffic

get an eclipse as a starter. my stock suspension and practically stock drivetrain runs circles around most civics( i said most cause the 06 and up sis are awesome, love the 197 hp). my car stock has 147hp and 157tq and it only weighs 300lbs more. its over 2in wider, you ever heard wider is better. the 4g64 can handle alot more strain than any honda motor. the 4g64 can be turbod on stock componets, dont push over 7 psi. that still gives it at least 40 more hp.
do not get a evo, it has way to much power for a new driver.

An eclipse GT has alot of power to, 265HP isn't that much less than 290.
The 4G64 lasted until 05, if he got a pre 05 eclipse it would be fine as a first car, but he's talking about the latest model.

^ Get the *** out! Houma is my dads hometown. My grandma still lives there on Hialeah Rd, and my brother and his wife live just outside of New Orleans (or Nahlens as its properly pronounced lol). I love Houma man. Haven't been there in about 5 years but I still remember how great all the food is everywhere round there.
