Actually the USDM 1991-95 MR2 made 200lbft of torque with the turbo. You might be thinking of the 1988 Supercharged 1.6l, which doesnt really count.

My car needed a replacement motor since the engine seized and I put in a simple bolt in motor, takes less than a weekend to do if you know what your doing.

AWD swaps would take easily several months and several thousand more dollars to accomplish. For that much money I can have a built 2.2 stroker 3sgte pushing 600whp or so (the record for 3sgte's is 817whp), and I didnt have to swap drivetrains or do anything ridiculous asides a rebuild and some basic bolt ons.

Also the 3sgte is vastly under rated from the factory, and built to easily make 2-3x as much power as its stock rating. Most NA motors can only make about %10 more power before some serious modding like an engine rebuild/turbokit/standalone ecu has to be done before it can make 2x-3x the power.

Since the 3sgte is already ironblocked and comes with a turbo, making %40 more power over stock is usually a couple bolt on mods and a crank up of the boost away, since the motor was originally designed for WRC racing.

blueeclipse.com did his AWD conversion for under a grand, and i dont know about godfather, but i was planning on the rebuild turbo and standalone ecu plus many other things. since i know alot of the auto shops in my area, even though none of them tune, i still have access to a dyno, and a shop, and a junkyard. pretty good start for my project?

i plan on doin a full engine rebuild. i know its xpensive but there are 4g64s pushin over 900hp still fwd. imagine that power on awd platform. im lookin at approx 7gs if i cant find a totald evo9. the evo9 drivetrain is only 4gs. and i do all the work with friends. i have a friend tryin to open a 12 bay tunin shop and if he gets it opened i will be sponsored. the only hard part is havin to find a nice lookin wide body kit to tuck the wheels cause the rear of the evo is 3in wider. the carbon driveshaft is only 1500. and my car has a hump in the underbody where it will fit a rearend. the hardest part will be replacin the rear suspension and reroutin the exhaust.

Godfather, if the Evo plan doesn't work, try a late 2nd gen eclipse. Too bad there's no Tuner shops in Pasco County. I have to take a good 3 hour trip south to get to any decent tuning places.

theres one in my town right now but there ass holes. they charge way to much money for there work. they dont sponsor unless you work there.

i would love to have a track to run time trials here.

the 2nd gen mite work but i want the more even awd system then the 2nd gen. the evo awd can run 40/60, 50/50, or 60/40. the 2nd gen awd only runs 70/30.

Maybe get the axles from an EVO, but use the 2G driveshaft? I'd love to have 50/50 but I dont know if the EVO drivetrain is long enough on its own, plus the EVO drivetrain is supposedly wider?

Or maybe even get the gearing in the 2G axles evened out so it does have 50/50?

Is the EVO 8 AWD drivetrain electronic? Is the 99' GSX?

yes, no. the ev8 is 3in longer wheelbase, and 1in wider. and the 99 gsx is 2in shorter in wb, and 1 in shorter in width. i would rather stretch out my car than shrink it. you can get a custom axel built for about a grand.

Can't you just cut three inches out of the driveshaft? I've seen custom work done, they cut a few inches off, and then welded the end back on. Also, thanks for the help you guys. It's good to know that there's people around trying to do the same ***

yp could do that but it will take away from the structural integrity. if there is to much torq on it it could snap off and tear thru the cabin and possibly kill you. it may be cheaper but, to me, the danger isnt worth it.

Good point. BTW is it better to trade heads to an EVO 4G63 head and build it, or just build the 4G64 head?

either way. the 4g64 head is sohc and has better low end power. the 4g63 head is dohc and has better high end power. i would rather have low end power on a turbod car. for a dohc 4g64 head look at the srt4.

If I switch to a 4G63T head, can I use the stock turbo manifolds? It would only be temp until I build the motor.
