Hey guys, i'm brand new to the driving world, and i just graduated high school. I was looking into buying a car soon and i was hoping that I could get some rather "expert" opinions on what i should do.

Here's my delimma, I was either going to get a 240sx [s13] around 4-6k now then working on it and possibly trying to learn to drift even though it's not practical it's what i'm looking into. Or should I just burn that dream down and get a more "normal" car, while driving a minivan around for a year or so saving up. I was looking into either the 02-04 Civic Si hatch, or the 05-08 Civic Coupes, they're both around 10-14k.

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place or if it's a bad question, but i really can't decide for myself since i'm rather novice with cars, i just know a little bit. Any opinions and help pros/cons list would be of much appreciation thanks.  

get the 240SX and learn how to drive before drifting.  drifting is not something you can just decide to do one day and perform without *** your car up.  my advice is by the car, leave the stock motor in, take the car to some autoX events and really learn how to drive it in a safe environment.  Then start modifying the car to your liking.
