I have a friend with a brand new 07 eclipse. he paid 23k for it. he raced another one of my friens with an 02 svt ford focus that cost 8k. the svt focus stomped the eclipse from a roll and a dead stop. not to mention the fact that his focus has a large magnet sub and mdf box weighing over 120 lbs with amps. the eclipse didn't have any dead weight in it besides the p.o.s. stock fosgate system. As far as price and performance goes... the svt is something definitely worth checking out. And an if you want something with a stock turbo and don't wanna look like a poser go with a volkswagen GTI or MazdaSPEED protege. In my opinion there are way too many eclipse's running the streets.

we are talkin about 3rd gen eclipses. they are lighter and way cheaper. the reason why no one bues the svt focus is cause there is a very little aftermarket for them.

Well he has seemingly failed to put his timeslip up on dsmtuners.com's 1/4 mile section. The 25 fastest dsm's on the website, all but one is an AWD Eclipse GSX/Talon TSI AWD/Plymouth Laser RS. Ok there might be one RWD in there, but anyways, it takes a lot less work to get a Talon TSI AWD into the 10's or 9's, than it would a 3rd gen eclipse. Afterall, you have to swap drivetrains to have any hope of your car being fast, most people thats beyond their mechanical skill level which means for most people they have no hope of EVER making a 3rd gen eclipse "fast"
