if you order from any semi-reliable store of site they will usually go to a parts catalog specifically for your car.  some good sites for parts, tools, and engines  are www.summitracing.com for parts and tools    and www.jazzproparts.com for inexpensive used JDM tuned engines.

The two best engines that you can swap are the B18C5 from the Integra type-r (190hp) or a K20 which are found in the new Civic SI and RSXs (200-210hp). I know civics after 96 use OBD2 computers. The main upgrade that would have no use to you is fuel system upgrades unless you are planning on boosting it.

I would go with a b series motor such as a b18 or b16 just because it lines up and is much easier to install than the k20. It will really depend on if you are expierenced or not. And if you boost it i would pretty much rebuild the interior of the motor just for breakge reasons
