How come Toyota doesn't make any fun sporty cars anymore. The Supra, MR2 and older Celicas were all good sporty cars. The last generation of Celica wasn't all that great and now all they have is the Carolla, Camry and Yaris. Does any body know of any upcoming sport coupes by Toyota for the future?

they have a 3.1 second 0-60 prototype hybrid.  doubt it'll ever make it to production though cause nobody would pay the price that it would end up costing for a toyota.

I've also heard rumors of them "reviving the AE86" I.E. making a completely unrelated RWD car good for drifting and badging it the 86 to make sales explode.

Toyota makes a lot of trucks and economy cars now...and they don't really have a halo sports car anymore.
While I agree they need a new sports car, I also see they are doing pretty well with the little economy cars and trucks they produce...in other words, they're obviously not hurting.

The Lexus LFA is badazz, but I don't think it will be a big seller, being that it's only being built for Toyota Racing reasons as a platform.

As for the Supra, I think they should leave well enough alone, cuz theyre just gonna fug it up by killing its lineage and putting a V8 in it and calling it a Supra.

I agree that as US consumers we have missed out on great toyotas. It seems like all the toyotas I drool and lust after are atleast 15-25 years old.

But I dont mind. I Love Toyota's 90's and 80's cars, to me that was Toyota's golden era in automanufacturing but now there much more focused on building the best a to b cars than the best street racing cars, which makes sense.

So far I have owned 2 91 MR2 Turbo's and I just bought an 87 MR2.

The cars that I plan to add to my garage as I keep earning more money in my life is the AE86 Corolla, the Celica Alltrac, and if gas prices ever wane or I get a huge influx in cash, perhaps a 2JZGTE Supra, but I will always have room for a MR2 Turbo as my favorite toy that I own.

One rare gem I saw on alltrac.net that made me pop a  boner when I saw it was less than a days drive away was a street legal 1995 Celica GT4. I would swerve one of those anyday over a run of the mill evo/skyline/STi and it has the same motor in my MR2 so it would be really easy to make fast.

Owell, maybe Ill settle for a 2/3's 2jzgte, that being a Gen4 3sgte when I fix my motor in my duce this summer. I will always be a toyota man, even considered getting a toyota tattoo once.
