Alright so I'm getting started in the tuner scene, and I'm curious what everyone thinks would be a good car to start with. The reason I'm asking is because there is a large variety of cars and id like to here some opinions from other people. The one thing i do wanna stay away from is a Honda civic, not a bad car buy everyone and there grandmother has one lol.
So lets here it, whats everyone else's opinion on a good starter car?

Before even beginning to be able to help you we'd need to know your budget. If you're looking for something aroudn 20k and you dont mind taking a loan out i'd go with the IS300, or like me an RSX Type-S...i know the IS300 kills the rsx but its been my dream car since '02 when i first saw it and now i can afford it. If you're looking for around 10k i'd definately go with the Focus SVT or Sentra SE-R, great stock cars and endless possibilities.

well I'm only 19 living down in Canada, and I'm more or less looking for something that i can use as like a starter car in the sense that id be used to help me learn more about everything. I'm definatly not around a 20k budget, and a 10k by loan may be possible. And would getting something like 5-6grand be a smart idea for something just to start with? or would it be better to go for something more around a 10k budget and have a better car instead of a 5k car that would need a decent amount of work done to it?

Read our new car sticky at the top of general discussion. I told one member about what makes a great starter car and he essentially made the sticky from what I told him and stuff he knew, atleast I fully agree with his first post in the sticky cept for the part about "Supercharged" stock trans am.

first tuner car should be slow, reliable, easy to work on, and have lots of after market support.
