Ok hi guys, um I am really new to the import scene and cars in general. I'm 16 so I am about to get my first car. And I know there are a billion of these topics but I really wanted mine to be seen and someone reply to it. I've been browsing the forums and it seems like all of you are telling new drivers to lean towards FWD and not much horsepower. Also I've seen that you all don't really recommend RWD to new drivers. My dad and I have been looking around at different cars and we test drove a few today. The ones that stood out the most were the Rx8 and the mazda 3. I know the rx8 has alot of power for a new driver and the rotary engine is pretty confusing but
that was such a fun car to ride around in. It was so smooth and turned and braked like a dream. I also like the fact that it's RWD in case i ever want to get into drifting.(I know I sound like every other little kid saying I'm gonna get a badass car and drift)(forgive me for that)....Now on to the 3. This car was awesome and I love the interior and exterior a whole lot. It seemed to have a lot of get up and go and the brakes were great as well as the handling. Is the 3 a good tuner car? Can you make them fast for a FWD?  Anyways if you  have bared with me so far and read this far please respond to me with some help! Thanks guys!

Buying new sucks? As someone who has about 2-3 grand to spend on their first car, I'm struggling to not ram my head through my monitor after hearing that.

Jokes aside I'd look into a mazda miata. Low power, handles very well, but is RWD and can be made to be quite a fast car after you have some experience.

Also, you can get one that does this:

Oh, my bad, I wasn't saying buying new sucks. I was just saying I wish I could get an older car. (like an integra or something they don't make any more.)

Yeah, I know where your coming from, (I prefer the RX7's to RX8's) I was just messin around with you. Sorry if I came off a bit harsh.

Still, I recommend the mazda miata. Assuming this is going to be your daily driver, I'd reccomend against a rotary, as maintanence is strict, and unless its VERY well looked after it'll be as reliable as a late 90's Honda, which defeats the purpose of buying new.
