Is it recommend that I switch over to a manual transmission? Is it expensive?

If your handy with a torch and a welder, for torching out spots in the firewall for a clutch pedal than by all means go ahead.

But since were talking a Pontiac G6 and by the sounds of it you would plan on paying someone else to do it, no it is not worth it.

Infact if you want to get into racing, sell the FWD Pontiac G6 and buy a "real" car. Pontiac makes lots of real cars like the Pontiac Trans Am, even the supercharged Pontiac GTP makes a great racing platform, but the G6 simply does not strike fear in the heart of racers, let alone one with an automatic transmission.

^if you dont mind losing a bit of power go with a bug eye WRX.  It wont have as much power, but it'll have lots of potential to be fast, and get better mileage.
