I own a 1999 Chrysler Cirrus LXI and am trying to start tuning and learning about cars. Ive researched my fingers to the bone to try and find parts for this car but to little avail. The Stock 2.5L V6 is pretty strong and offers great potential but I cant find any comapanies that offer more than a K&N filter or some Eibach springs. If anyone out there knows anything about the Cirrus or closely related Stratus and could offer some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Strong? Compared to what? Other naturally aspirated v6's from the mid 90's? I can assure you that most turbo 4cylinders/6cylinders and naturally aspirated v8's would have an especially easy time smoking a v6 Chrysler Cirrus.
For one thing your car is FWD, your weight shifts off the drive tires allowing for spin. Your transmission is not setup for a racing platform from the factory, it is most likely open diff. which means that from launch your car will 1 tire fire and exacerbate your traction problems (If you can get one tire to smoke at all on that, I suppose the narrow stock tires might be capable of it).
THe reason nobody makes performance parts for them is because nobody uses them as racing platforms. Your next mod should be a for-sale sign and buy something that isnt FWD, or Naturally aspirated, unless its a v8.

Well While your advice is appreciated, here in lies my greatest problem. Ive considered selling it many times. The problem is I have a very small income considering I only work part time because of school and the resale on a '99 Cirrus is about $2,500. There isn't many vehicles suited for racing in good condition for that kind of price. I considered a 240sx but anything I found that cheap required extensive engine or body work. What might you suggest to that? The only other resort is a junkyard resto that if you dont know everything about it before you buy can get expensive fast. Im not looking to buy a full race bred machine just something with a little guts behind it. Im starting college in fall for mechanical engineering and want something to start doing some of my own custom work on. Sort of a frankenstein but I dont want to have to hand make everything. Get what im saying? Again anything you can suggest would be very helpful. Thanx

^There is a 600awhp 1g eclipse gsx for only $7600. You want to be fast for cheap, DSM's are right up there, if there the AWD Eclipse GSX/Talon TSI AWD/Plymouth laser AWD.
For around $3000 you can get a stock one in nice condition, there not worth a whole lot cuz there not as pretty as the 2g eclipse, but there lighter and there motors are strong and very cheap to mod.

OK bro, here's wat you do. The cirrus is the ricer of american cars. its all computer controlled. If you can put an iat chip and an ecu stabilizer on it you'll get a good gain. then supercharge it.

i agree with sir on this one... as soon as you start getting any sort of gains on that engine, itll die. those engines SUUUUUUUCCCKK. and working on them is just one aggravating thing after another. they were not designed at all to go fast, and im pretty confident when i say theyll probably rattle themselves apart at 105. if the trans doesnt blow up by then. Save some, an get yourself a 1st gen clipse or talon. easy to work on, cheap, and can crank some serious power thru some minor mods. my buddy has one, N/a FWD. yet with an intake, exhaust, and lightweight flywheel, he was able to roast a olds 442 the other day. power:weight ratio wins again!
