Hello, I'm kind of new to tuner cars but I have become very interested in them. I currently have a 1970 Chevelle with a 468ci bb in it, but I have recently taken an interest in tuners. I am looking into buying one but I'm not really sure what to get. I have looked at Supras and STi's what are some other good options and what are some pros and cons of each? I'm kind of leaning towards a Supra because I'm rather fond of them but I don't really know much about the import scene so all imput and help is greatly appreciated. A question for Supra owners, What is the difference between the 93-98 models? I have looked at pictures on the web but I can't really see much of a difference between them. The pictures might not be accurate either so if someone could help me out with that as well it would also be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post but like I said I'm kind of new and need some enlightenment. Thanks for the help.

First off whats your budget?

How big are you? (some cars may be a little too small)

Guessing if your looking at supras and sti's you have a pretty nice budget.

List of cars i would look into-

Nissan skyline gtr- TT inline 6. AWD. Rb26dett capable of handling alot of power. Parts will be extremely hard to find for this car but roomy. You would look at spending around 80k for one of these.. Right hand drive (japan import only)

Yota Supra- TT 6. 2jz also capable of producing some huge numbers. Parts will be easier to find but extremely pricey as they will for all of these. Huge community. Roomy.

Suby Sti- Turbo 4. I dont know much about these cars. AWD.. huge history in rally etc. Turbo 4 so they get decent mpg

Mitsu Evo- Turbo 4. Pretty much the same as the sti in description

Yota mr2 turbo- Turbo 4. Very small car. Turbo 4 so good mpg. Harder to work on i believe. Sirscr0tum1 will chime in on this car:P

Mitsu 3000gt vr4-  TT v6. Poor gas mileage. Has regular maint that is a MUST. But the 6g72tt is capable of pushing massive number along with the supras and skylines. very hard to work on.  I drive the NA version and have worked on many vr4's and driven them as well. By far my favorite car on the list. But isnt quite the best of choice for bang for buck.

Mazda rx-7- TT rotary. Small car. Gas mileage isnt too wonderful for such a small engine (1.3L) rotary. Engines are extremely fickle with heat. Rotary engine mechanics are few and far apart also very expensive. New apex seals every 30k miles.

P.S. Selling the chevelle by any chance?

Go with an 04 STI.  Great after market availability, not too expensive for someone looking for a bad ass car that can race from the factory, etc.  Too many good thigns to name.  No cons taht i can think of, but ive never owned one.

I know the Sti's ecu's are quite fickle. or have been told that atleast. A mod as small as an intake can throw it off.

Ya anyone I know who has an STI has stock intake.  They say cold air/short rams throw of the AFR really bad.  The car has a big turbo from the factory so getting enough air isnt anything to worry about.
