I've read about this swap before online and since my Civics' engine just blew and I have a totaled 1990 Eclipse GS-T sitting in my driveway, I thought I might as well ask about it...I know that this will be costly considering the fabrication required for it to work right. What would I be looking to spend my money on and what would need to be made from scratch (mounts, etc.). Considering I already have both car's, where are my main expenditures going to lie? I thought already about just selling my Civic for what I can get for it and just getting another Eclipse and swap the motor from the totaled one in, but I just want to have something no one else really has.

If your good with doing crazy swaps than go ahead and try it. If you have a torch and mig welder than sure I guess anything is possible, and can weld in the 4g63 mounts into the proper location.

But seeing as how very few civic owners have done this swap, and since its not an easy bolt in swap, if you have very little to no mechanical skill, I would recommend against trying anything crazy, or you will wind up with a broken car in a state of disrepair for years. And besides, GST trannys are non-lsd, so even if you did put a 4g63 in it, it would still be slow for quartermile racing and you would just sit at the line and roast tires.
