My wife recentally purchased a 1990 Honda Prelude S 2. I was looking online and everyone seems to be swaping out the engine. I don't have that much funding, I have a new baby girl and I'm curentally deploied to Iraq. If anyone can give me some sugestions on where I can get some bolt on parts I'd really appreciate it. I jut want the car to go a bit faster and still be an everyday driver.
Well, the car is gone, apparentally the kid who sold it to my wife forgot to ask his dad, who owns it, if he could sell the car . I got my money back, and I'm now in the market for a nice project car. If anyone knows where I can get a running car for about $600 in northern Co. I'd appreciate the help

We would like to thank you for putting your ass on the line to keep our gas tanks full.
Well she CAN put a couple minor modifications like a new exhaust system, intake and header, but those only yeild power gains of 10whp or so for naturally aspirated 4cylinders, and generally cost about $700 for all the parts, if your gonna do the work yourself. You need to ask yourself, would you be satisfied with paying about $80 per 1whp, for your prelude, because its still going to get smoked if you try taking it to the track.
On this forum, we consider a 12.9 to be the slowest time you can run, to garner a bit of respect from fellow tuners. A 90 prelude on its stock 4cylinder with a CAI header and exhaust will be lucky to pull a 15.9. So despite your modifications, you would still have a LONG way to go, and alot more money to spend, if you want to own a respectable import.
Otherwise, I would recommend selling the prelude, and buying a used eclipse gsx or something, those run 11's with very little in modifcations, and dont require costly motor swaps or rebuilds for it to happen.

you can always put a gsr head on the 2.0L block. its pretty easy and cheap. you should run low 14sec 1/4 miles with no modifications then you do your simple bolt ons and you will run 13sec 1/4mile my friend has a 2.0l with a gsr head in a crx and is running 11s with slicks altogether it cost him like 2 grand but all the stuff you wil need to buy should only cost you like $800 just the head, the wire harness, computer, and fuel injectors from a 1st gen turbo eclipse

If run about 13.00 sec even, put in a N20 kit nothing too big i.e 75-100 shot. Or try and after market fuel pump they run about 300 bucks but they can add about 10hp. but in all honesty engine swap is the way to go. look for the H22a.

300 fuel pump can yield 10 HP? What have you been smoking man? If that really happens, people would better off go with those fuel pumps and let their intake, exhaust, header stock because those 3 combines cost more than 300 bucks and doesn't give you that much power. I don't think people are that stupid. Anyway, you can get the H22A in a last gen Prelude.

^I have to agree, 10hp from a fuel pump is major bs. It may have helped you restore 10hp, possibly because your old fuel pump may have been broken, but you will not gain anything from a fuel pump. It's more of a supporting mod like fuel injectors and whatnot. Def. go with a H22, but with all due respect, since you guys have the pleasure of just having a baby, I would honestly focus more on her than your car, especially if you guys are short on money. Focus on the more important things in life.
