It's not a matter of what you can and can't put into it. It is a matter of how much work do you plan on putting into your swap.

Do you just want an engine that will drop right in with little problems? I'm guessing that's what your going for.

Your budget is a big factor too. Go online and look around. It should be easy to find a good compatible engine that meets your needs.

Everyone will have their own opinion on what engine is right for you. Go research some specs and find out what you need. The more you know the better at this youll be for next time.

Well it sounds like this guy is attempting to make his car faster, possibly wanting to get into drag, by putting in a high performance motor from the evo into his economy car lancer.

Look buddy, your best bet would be to go ahead, and drive your car for its intended purpose, economical transport from point a to point b.

I would not bother putting a 4g63 into a lancer because it is FWD, and lot of the FWD 4g63's are notorious for non-lsd transmissions, and very poor traction in front wheel drive cars. I would know, my brothers GST eclipse gets awful 2.6 60fts at the quartermile.

That is one of the major reasons why the EVO makes a much better tuning platform, is because its AWD. AWD swaps is no simple bolt in process for your chassis I suspect.

If you want to make a fast car, why not buy a car that comes with a turbo motor from the factory, and isnt FWD so it wont be handicapped for drag racing.

Actually Im not inexperienced in FWD drag racing, my brother use to own a BPU Eclipse GST. You know what kind of 60 fts his eclipse got? 3.1, you know what kind of 60fts my 14 second  BPU MR2 Turbo got? 2.1. For every extra tenth of a second in your 60ft is 2 tenths in the quarter, so needless to say fwd's are at the worst disadvantage when it comes to racing.

When it comes to braking and handling they also suck, because most of the weight is up front, this takes a lot of rearward braking bias so your rear brakes are practically worthless. My car on the other hand, has the engine in the middle of the car so that it puts a lot of emphasis on utilizing the back brakes as well as the fronts.

When it comes to handling they suck as well, because imagine your car sitting on a point, in the middle of the car. Your car would fall off due to having all of its weight up front. My car on the other hand would balance perfectly because I have very close to nuetral balance.

Im sorry, but if FWD was so great, its a huge mystery that Mclaren, Ferrari and Lamborghini nevr opt for it, let alone any "fast" racing cars. No matter how fast your FWD car is, theres always a faster MRWD or AWD car.

dont listen to scrotum unless your wandering about an mr2 and even then he will lies to you about it.

the main thin that you will have to do to your car is just replace the pistons, rods, rings, lifters, and put the dohc from the 4g63 onto it and you will have a 4g63. every motor in the 4g family has the same block. the main dif is the crank and bore and head.

how good are fwd for drifting? i got my lancer to drift on dry asphalt but it goes crazy on a wet floor. i got the 2003 lancer es, i don't race much unless there's a show off trying to take me out (don't mean i win them all, but my baby makes them sweat) i too want to make it faster and i know it wont be an evo but i would like to have a little more horsepower. i'm proud of my car cuz it has taken out a 09 mustang gt so i know she can get faster. =)
